Watching my obt web

I went upstairs to grab some socks, and decided to check in on the T's. Noticed that Noelle and Karina were both at their water dishes (which I don't see either of them do very often), so thought that was pretty cool. Then I checked in on Chaos...

Now I have her little deli inside of a larger tupperware container (the larger container has no lid and is weighted with some rocks around her deli), with a fairly heavy rock on top of her deli to weigh it down. When I looked inside the smaller deli was completely upside down on top of the rock. No idea what happened, maybe the cats went in for a peek, but I really don't know how they would manage to knock the smaller deli upside down without tipping the larger container over especially with the weight of the rock (the larger container hadn't even moved an inch). It has been completely quiet in here all day, and I have heard nothing...odd.

Anyhow, I managed to upright the deli without burying the little obt and got a big ol' threat pose in the process...poor little girl was none too happy about her world being turned upside down :( I am glad she's fine, but it really freaked me out that she was able to be tipped like that. I have cleared a new spot for her on the bookshelf, inside of a heavy glass bowl that will not be able to move at all except by human hands (wedged at the top with some wood pieces as well). Will make it a little more of a pain to feed her and such, but don't want a repeat of today's events...and it's only until I get her a permanent enclosure in the next couple of weeks anyhow.

Now I am watching her re-make her web! It's pretty cool watching how she does it, and she hasn't slowed down even a little bit since she started. Love the web spinning booty dance lol.

I had it like that to prevent the cats from being able to tip it over. She is just around 2".

My little obt(about 1.5" in size) surfaced for a day or so, couldn't get a pic because she kept trying to escape... and now she back in her web den.. Hopefully preparing for another moult, to catch up to Bast's obt in size :p.

Chaos has decided to stop webbing, and has instead tunneled and made herself a little burrow along the side of the deli cup. At first I thought she got out somehow, I couldn't see her anywhere; and she's usually hanging out in her web in plain sight. I checked over the cup for any cracks, found that everything was secure, but was puzzled that I still couldn't see her. Then I noticed a couple of legs sticking up (which looked hilarous lol), and realized she had made a burrow. She's excavated it enough now that I can fully see her inside of it :D

I was able to get a good measurement on Chaos tonight, she's currently sitting at just over 2.1". Her abdomen is getting big again (not quite where it was when we first got her) too. I'm going to look at tanks tomorrow as well, then I get her final enclosure ready for after the next moult :)

Well here are my ideas, if anyone has any comments or improvements/suggestions, I'm open to all :) :

-Top opening 5 gallon tank (with a locking lid) and I would add items for her to anchor her web to at the bottom of the tank. Thinking this would give me some breathing room when I need to have the tank open; and not be bothering her web all the time (provided she stays at the bottom where I want her).

-A 12x12x18 Exo-Terra (may be getting this for free, waiting on more info), basically same idea as above, and it gives me two locking access points.

-A 2.5 gallon tank with a custom lid that either slides or can open from either side (so sort of hinged in the middle), this way it gives me a little more control of how much space is open at any given time as well as it will be easier to access the tank without irritating her.

I am also going to look into pricing some materials (I have a friend that works at a home improvement store that said I can use his discount) to make my own enclosure(s), and maybe try my hand at that. Caden also said he'd like to help me make a shelving unit (bookshelf style), since he seems very disappointed that he's never used a hammer or screwdriver before lol.
