Thoughts on fake plants?

I use to despise the look of fake plants and flowers. But they're the only thing they can trample and so far not tear limb by limb. Any good plant recommendations that have worked out long term for anyone? Even my succulents and pothos have suffered the wrath.

I feel your pain brother! My MF P. Regalis seems to not bother her neon Pothos, but the plants in with the MM Psalmopeous Pulcher are nowhere to found anymore and his Exo looks terrible now! Not to mention for a spider that don't eat much he is veritable pooo canon! I keep most enclosures pretty simple now for this fact. My coolest decorating always is webbed over or torn apart! But.... it's there house anyway and not mine!!

You're right, it's their house! It would be one thing if i got awesome webbing action. All I get are dirt snowmans, dirt water and annihilated plants. We're housing destructive toddlers

Just my opinion but I think female arboreals are your best bet for live plants and certainly no guarantee! Terrestrial T probably will rearrange and bring total destruction and fossorial??? No good probably as well. I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions but you are taking a chance with live plants no matter how you cut it and I have a plant eating cat to contend with as well.Lol. And substrated water bowels aaaarrrrrrggggggg! All my Darlingi does is throw substrate in her water bowl no sooner than I get it in there! Much less a few more to boot that tip etc, etc!! Lol, gotta love it!!

Honestly, I've been avoiding arboreals for years. I don't want anyone to have the high ground over me. Haha. So I'll keep dealing with my dirt lovers. And I get it, I have 4 cats. Plants, insects or arachnids are all on treading water here. Gotta keep them up high

I use artificial plants a lot. Even my sling pots often have a small artificial leaf in them, so my slings have something to hide under.

I like vine & Ivy type plants. Cut into short lengths, these lay on the substrate of terrestrial enclosures & are safe to walk/climb on. And if it's buried. So what, it makes no difference. For my arboreal, I like to wrap reasonable lengths of vine/ivy type plants around the bark tube, giving my T's somewhere to hide & feel safe.

A couple of my heavy webbing arboreals have several tall artificial plants in with them & the enclosures are a wonder wall to wall. Floor to ceiling mass of webbing now.

I even use those bright pink etc plants that children like in their fish tanks. They are a decoration & add some colour to the enclosure.

Artificial leaf plants for flower arranging, or house decorating often offer cheap & usable alternatives & most pet stores, stock multi packs of fish tank plants.

Agreed. I think I'm going to make the switch and add more artificial plants. I think I'm just in the mindset that I wanted real things to work. But I'll be getting over that. Thanks

Lol, when I got back to keeping T's at first I wasn't going to keep arboreals but have roughly 11 arboreals! There were just too many I loved! I understand the cat thing only to well. Many years ago I lost my Grammastola Rosea when we got cats! She got knocked off the TV stand because my stupid self didn't think!!! Heartbroken indeed! And was months later before I found her! She crawled under the couch to die. Sad day as I didn't keep T's again till a little over 5 years ago. Was around 1993 when I lost her! All the lost years ..lol

That is really sad. I would be devastated too. Certain things are hard to recover from. That's kinda where I'm at with pacmans. They were all sickly specimens i had adopted. So when I lost mine a couple years back, I vowed to not ever get anymore. Maybe I'll have a change of heart one year like you.

If you enjoyed your pacmans would give it a go again. Don't wait as long as I did! Lol. If it wasn't for You Tube I might not have got back into T keeping and I shore wish it had been 20 years ago not 5. Basically, don't let yourself look back with regrets and let too much time pass. Happy Spoodering brother!

100% YouTube gave that extra push. Plus there's so much help/community for the hobby now! Good advice. Do what you love
