Well my b.smithi has been in heavy premolt for almost 2 weeks now, and whilst i was doing my maintenece on my other Ts tonight i caught it out of the corner of my eye doing some webbing. It has been sat in the same area of the enclosure for the past 3 weeks and ive never actually seen it move until tonight, its just changed positions at different times ive checked (facing the rear, then its turned to the front, then back to the rear etc). So im hoping its laying down its mat to molt. Now i would love to sit and watch all night but im at work at 6am so i cant. Anyway my question is, has anyone ever seen a T flip over to molt. You read all the time that people have either missed a molt or seen it molt but ive never heard of anyone seeing it flip over to start the molt. Abit random question because most people want to catch the actual molt process but im rather intregued as to what they do to flip over [emoji3]

Not sure if any have watched it flip over, all the posts here i can recall off hand are of seeing it flipped over and recording the process. I agree, that would be interesting to watch as i've already watched most of a molt with my GBB.

Well my smithi has molted at last, ive managed to get the molt out and ive had a go at sexing it (which is my first attempt at sexing a T). Ive come to the conclusion its a male, but as i said ive never sexed a T before so please correct me if im wrong though [emoji5] i will get a better pic when hes recovered, hes still sat in the corner where he molted, this photo doesnt do him justice, his fresh colours are stunning [emoji2]

Thanks, i love him, hes so placid and docile. I was kind of hoping for a female but never mind, hopefully ill get a female in the future.
It really doesn't matter that it's a male. It looks amazing and it needs as much love as the females [emoji1]

Best cure for a pet dying is a new pet i always say. I know it sounds harsh but it gets ur mind off of ur lost pet.

That's what I keep telling the girlfriend......usually at the same time her selective hearing loss kicks in :D

I watched my genic "correct" itself after a molt the ither day coming off its back and into the normal position . It was really quick....too quick for me to record it. Never mind I am sure she will molt again in about 12 to 18 months!

Beings as its a male, And we all know that they don't last as long,
perhaps pick a couple you would be willing for her to have and let her get one now? So the attachment has time to build,
Meanwhile gently prepare her for the fact that it is a male and that
you may have to send him off to be a daddy but she can have one of his children?

We have a g pulchra juvenile that ive told her she can have seen as their temprement is similar to a b smithi so she can be abit more interactive with that such as helping to do maintenance and feeding etc. I cant really let her do that with my p metalicas or my t stirmi haha. I think thats what i will look to do, send him off on a loan deal when hes mature.

I actually watched 2 of my T's flip over. Both slings. I noticed them laying their web mat, then later I checked and they were literally pushing over with their legs. I Didn't catch them at the same time of course. It was strange because we usually don't see T's flip on their backs ever

With that video, now I have seen a T flip over to its back to molt. Seriously though, I thought it pretty amazing to capture a molting T and then righting itself up afterward. Now, there is that flipping over moment! I would really be lucky if I can catch one of my Ts at it. :D

The exudium looks male to me also, congrats man! :) It is quite the same with my exudium too.
