This happens a lot. Some people remove the ovipositor to prevent them them from laying the eggs. No biggie though. Remove the water dish for a few days, the crickets will dry up fast. Or, leave it in and they will drown in it. The isopods are a nice touch!

Just let it dry out. The crickets with drown int he water dish trying to find moisture. Don't worry about ditching the sub just yet. Shipping the ovipositor helps reduce occurrences but they can still lay eggs without.

They are Detritivore . They eat dead organics. not live :) They like easy meals not much at chasing down prey :) They are a sign of Health soil and if you have live plants in tank it promotes them growing.

detritivore (dĭ-trī'tə-vôr')
An organism that feeds on and breaks down dead plant or animal matter, returning essential nutrients to the ecosystem. Detritivores include microorganisms such as bacteria and protists as well as larger organisms such as fungi, insects, worms, and isopod crustaceans. In a food chain, detritivores are primary consumers. Compare carnivore, herbivore.

Just picked up three species at the local reptile show today: Dwarf Grey, Powder Blue and Dwarf Purple isopods. Will keep everyone posted on the experiment.
