I have just spent the most entertaining afternoon watching my Lasiodora parahybana, Mole, desperately trying to get onto the lid of his box to bask in the sun. His box is 16.5"L x 11.2"W x 6.7"H and only a small corner catches the sun in the afternoon but he tries so hard to follow it as it moves round. Yesterday it rained all day so no sun for Mole so I guess he was making up for lost basking time. I lost track of the number of times he attempted getting on to the lid and fell, most times he managed to stop himself by putting a foot or 2 down but 6 times he fell completely, thumping down to the bottom. It reminded me of the old story of Robert the Bruce, "try, try and try again" and just in case you don't know the tale see http://www.educationscotland.gov.uk/scotlandshistory/warsofindependence/bruceandspider/index.asp
I'd have videoed it but his box is too opaque Roll on the arrival of his and Pip's new all glass vivariums very soon currently being made to measure in Poland.
