Spider escape.....

O boy...just went in to feed and found the door to my full grown P. ornata enclosure unlatched...not open but it does default to the closed position - just not snapped shut...no spider obvious with a minimal amount of " look- under-this- and- that " in the enclosure...no webs trailing around outside... maybe a few poop specs on a near wall - but that could be old dust...no big creature adorning the wall or ceiling...
Do you think he/she would just hole up and hide? My spiders are in a small separate room that was once a porch and got enclosed - no where to go but under the camping equipment stored there and, of course, various shelving/tables for spider boxes - a slightly stuffed room.
I tried calling...got no response...
Palmetto bugs(rather large local roaches) get in from around the back of the fireplace into this room...there's actually something the spider could eat...
Needless to say I am not thrilled...
I had a full grown regalis escape from where I kept them at work (I owned a shop and sometimes despite the warning signs, idiots would open the cages - so the Ts had to go). Anyway, to cut a long story short, she didn't go very far and come night time I found her wandering a few feet from her cage. They will just hide I guess so no need to panic...

I was planning a night time inspection...wonder if I have a little red something that would work... thanks for the good ideas!
..
Night check always works well. Check behind shelves or cabinets... they seem to feel safe behind there...

Hello all...and thanks again for ALL suggestions...I tore the enclosure up today...gently!...it is definitely empty...
With that said ... The Christmas tree is next! There might be spider poop on the inside of the sheet that covers it...if I were an arboreal; I'd check out a Christmas tree!!

Ugh. Sorry to hear. Hopefully he’s tucked away in some corner of the room. But I would keep my eyes open everywhere. I have an Az. Blonde that while we we’re away got out, down 3 shelves of a lean-to shelf unit, out of the room, down a flight of stairs and walked to the back of the house where my wife found it in a utility bucket.

Have you got a camera like the amazon blink? If this happened to me I'd stick it up and let it record, picks up any movement even in night mode, your phone will get a notification once it goes off. Maybe you ll have enough time to run in with a catch Cup if your lucky enough. Good luck

Moving furniture?

You'll kill your spider that way. Just wait. You'll see the spider on a wall. Have your catch cup ready.

Thank you thank you thank you all for great ideas! I am hopeful it will not get out of the 'spider room'...I have 4 doggone doggies...not sure how they would react.

Dark Den lost a Pokie once in his spider room and he recorded himself tearing apart the room. He eventually found it on the outside of another spiders cage tucked toward the back. It was funny because when he spied it, it scared him half to death. @Turtlynne , may you be as lucky. Please keep us posted.

I am a little concerned...if she climbed the little spider room was an add-on once upon a time...it contains the back of a now closed fireplace....there are a few cracks around the edges that might admit a brave T to the outside......at least I think that's where it would go
I'd get some old rags and plug those cracks immediately. Its a good thing that she's confined to this room. Your job will be MUCH easier. If you haven't already, push a rug or long cloth across the underside of the door if there's a crack enough to squeeze under.

When finding escapees, I start with the most obvious areas, then go methodically from left to right or top to bottom... whatever makes sense. Always watch your feet; where you step. If you need more space remove large items or furniture from the room that you've looked behind and the under side where she might hitch a ride.

She WILL turn up. There's nowhere else she can be!
Oh, I almost forgot. Jesus said to His disciples, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

If you are a believer, that promise applies.
I've noticed this dozens of times.
If not, then check this link out.
Best to finding your friend!
