I put a Golden Knee sling (thumb nail size) into a 5 gallon tank. I cant find him now, was that a bad idea? I am thinking he might not find the food.

You may want to find some a little bit smaller for him for the time being. Have you located him yet?

Yes, there can be feeding issues in that size of an enclosure. At 1" a Deli Cup is a perfect home for a sling. and as it grows you can up-grade to a larger enclosure. Height is also an issue in a 5 gallon tank. Golden Knees are Terrestrial, and a fall from the top of the tank could easily prove fatal. I strongly suggest down-sizing.
