How big did you say it was? I'm trying to see if I can figure out the exact species, but honestly it could be a number of Avics, considering how similar many of them look. Whatever it is, it's still got the juvenile pattern on the abdomen. As far as I know, the only species that keeps the bright red abdomen as adults is amazonica. Nice rescue, it's just sad to think that another one will be there to take its place.

I am not sure she looks to be about 2 inch? maybe a lil bigger she's very very docile I mean feeding her the first time I nearly had to put it into her fangs.. I need to learn how to properly size I've never really paid much attention to size until I joined this forum ;) Yea, I know I shouldn't buy from them anymore but I cannot help going in there and when I see them I just want to snatch them up. I feel super lucky to have this one in my crew

Probably can never say for sure based on looks, but that is my guess. Just mark her as "Avicularia sp. Pet store" =) I'm not super confident in the species ID but I'm pretty sure it's a lady.

Often they will molt quickly after a trauma, and now that she's got plenty of food and water and a safe place she might just get a new skin to put the past behind her.

I just laughed my ass off at that pet Store comment.. I am really hoping for a molt from her- honestly she looks much browner in person but those toes are vivid pink - I just wish I knew

Nothing to teach patience like a tarantula. I bought a "male" Pelinobius muticus two years ago, but ventrally it looks female. It just molted a few days ago for the FIRST TIME in two years! Now I'm really impatiently waiting for it to kick the exuvium out so I can confirm that it's actually a lady.

Two. Years. I'm becoming ever more patient.
