@Chubbs thanks for the advice I'll make sure from now on I'll stick to what I find out on here then wiki it is always better to get advice from people who already have the T and know what they are doing. And I'll have a look at those authors you mentioned as well be worth looking into. Thanks again.

You're welcome. Stan Schultz is actually coming out with a 4th edition of the Tarantula Keepers Guide ,which will include some more up to date information. The current edition is still a great source of information, but it has a few bits of info here and there that are a bit questionable/Out dated.

What do you all think to this. Is my sling too small for live food or should I prekill them? I've been putting live in so far and when I go to check the next day the cricket is dead but uneaten. Here's a pic of my sling and a cricket.

That's bigger than the sling itself. I've seen some slings take down prey larger than themselves, but it really is a waste and a risk as well, as a cricket that big can easily harm the sling. I'd just pluck the legs off the cricket and give it that.

I crushed its head this time and left it to it see what happens, as I haven't seen any crickets that's been eaten yet.

Agreed with @micheldied the crickets are too large. Feed smaller prey or chop those size crickets in half and the sling should eat. If it's like mine and won't eat any pre-killed prey try something smaller like a meal worm or pinhead roach.

The sling looks fat enough. Perhaps it's already in premolt. Maybe it's been consuming very little of the crickets left in there. Or maybe it's too scared to try such a large prey item, even a dead one.

try some meal worms, cheap, easy to keep, no muss no fuss, just prekill it and see if thats something it likes.

Sling may have already fed on the cricks. It's just that it is too big that's why there are leftovers. ;)

Dubia roach nymphs are great to have at that small stage of a slings life. I've also never had a tiny sling turn down a section of superworm.
I would like to try roaches but my Mrs hates roaches and wont let me have them in the house lol, but from everything I've heard and read roaches are the best source of nutrients so they are what I want but cant have :(.
