Please help! Is she dead…?

Hi!
She hasn’t moving since this morning (or could be last night…). How can I tell if she is dead or not…? This T belongs to my son, and I’m desperate for any help to find out what’s going on with her. She became our family last Monday. She is a baby female (the store was not 100% sure yet). Could anyone please tell me what’s going on with her, and what we should do, or shouldn’t do? Thank you in advance very much!

Does not look dead to me, looks like a stress position.

You're going to want to add more substrate so if the tarantula climbs, a fall will not hurt her. I'm not sure what the rest of the enclosure looks like but I would add a hide and water dish.

I’m SO relieved to hear that she seems still alive for you! There is a water dish and some hide place. I can’t send more pictures right now, but I would add more substrate. Just wonder if we add more substrate, that action will cause more stress on her… I assume. Would that still be okay…? Just wanted to make sure…

You will have to take the spider out of the tank to add the substrate, so yes it will be a bit more stressed. But it's better to have a temporarily stressed T than a dead one.

The best way to find out if a T is dead or alive is to gently touch a leg with a soft brush and if you get a reaction you know it's still alive.
It's most likely still settling in so probably just a stress curl.

*hugs* yes she probably just hasn't settled in yet. The foliage looks good to provide her with some coverage but yes if there isn't a dark hide somewhere, like a coco dome or cork bark, I would add one :) as well as add the substrate mentioned above. Is she a seemani? I have seen they sometimes like to dig down to feel safe so the substrate should help with that as well as stop her falling from a height.

Once you've added the substrate and hide I would put her in a quiet dark room for now if you can - I find my Ts settle in faster in the dark.

Thank you very much for a great advice! As soon as we go home, I will try it with a soft brush! I’m SO relieved to hear that it seems like a stress curl (well, it still is not good for her…).

There is a cork bark, and she tried to hide there several times, but it doesn’t cover her completely (more like a half of her body). We will get a better one for her! We will also move her to a dark quiet place, and tell my son to leave her alone for a while… Thank you very much for all the wonderful advice!

She is still alive!!! We added more substrate, and added a better hiding place for her. Just wanted to let you know, and say thank you very much again!

She is still alive!!! We followed with your direction with a soft brush. Her legs didn’t move at first, so we thought she is gone, but she slowly moved. We added more substrate, and added a better hiding place for her. Just wanted to let you know, and say thank you very much again!
