Hello all. I went to a pet shop and they have 2,5 or 3 inch juvies p regalis. In such conditions my god. But im considering bringing one. I would like to know if there is any kind of diference between male and female. I have a H mac and its quite easy to sex it through the color. Juvie females start to change from brown to white ghost color while males stay brown. With p regalis I dont know. Can somebody help?

Sorry. Not at the Juvie stage. At sub adult, the colors start to mute for males (P. metallica as a notable exception), the legs get skinny and long and the abdomen remains thin. At juvenile stage, all bets are off.

From what I've gathered as Poecilotheria regalis grow the males tend to retain the dark stripe on their opisthoma whereas the females lose it somewhat and the stripe down their opisthoma becomes white. I've heard of exceptions to this to. I think a while back on arachnoboards I read on a thread that one dude had a Poecilotheria regalis that had a lighter stripe than most females and it matured into a large male. So it definitely isn't a great sexing method. If you can get a dorsal view though it definitely won't hurt. If you can get a ventral shot and post it here someone will likely be able to help. That's probably your best option.
