We've all been there man. I have. Re-evalute everything you did, and if everything was right, just let it go. I always try to figure out why one died, but sometimes there isn't an explanation. Some just don't make it. Focus on the ones that are still alive and well.

:(It is very sad. Like others said already: I have spiders I keep exactly the same way, feed and spray and water the same. One dies and all the others thrive

I zoomed into your picture and about an inch to the right from the borrow, it appears that there is what looks like a larva of some type. I can make out legs, body, and the head of what looks like a beetle of some kind.

If there was a larva of some kind of beetle that got in there, it could have easily killed your little guy as a food source. Natural is built this way but it happens a lot that eggs of beetles and things like that get into your substrate way before you even buy it from the store. It would not be your fault at all if this what may have happened.

Sometimes, we just don’t know why things happen but we learn and grow from our hardships. It is painful at the moment but it will pass. The joy of rising a sling to adulthood out weighs the pain of a 10% chance that it doesn’t make it.

I am sorry you had to encounter this 10% when just started out. Please don’t shy away from such an amazing experience as being a tarantula hobbyist.
