Hi, I'm Valerie, a.k.a Froggy739. I've always loved T's but had not owned any until recently. They are so interesting to watch! Some people get lost in Tik Tok or Facebook but not me, I lose hours a day watching my 8 legged little bundles of joy. My first was a Costa Rican zebra stripe (Aphonepelma Seemanni) I bought on Offer up in 2022. When I got him home, I noticed his water dish was bone dry so I named him Mr. Bones and I put water in and he drank for almost 45 minutes without stopping. My heart sank as I realized the neglected life he just came from. He ate well and molted in under a month with me. (Photo's will be in order) Next was a pair of T's, again found on Offer Up. A Curly Hair (Tultocati Albopilosus) and a Pink Toe (Avicularia) Rex and Rosey in June of 2023. Unfortunately, I don't know the age or sex of any of the one's I bought on Offer up. I got 2 more Pink Toes in 2023, a sling or spiderling(I'm not sure what the difference is) from a pet store who I named Pinky. Pam I rescued from Petsmart. Pinky was with me from 7-22-23 to 12-8-23 and I don't know when or why he passed. I only noticed he wasn't chasing the food and the food was walking over him. Pam on the other hand I had from 12-22-23 until just recently 2-15-25. Another mysterious death because Pam ate well and had plenty of water. Pam didn't care for Dubia roaches and would just strike and kill them but not eat them. Pam had a full molt in Feb 2024 and when I found her on the floor of her enclosure I thought she might be stuck in a molt and I had hopes for about 2 days. It looked as if she fell right out of her nest/web but she didn't appear to have a ruptured abdomen.
The next Offer Up Tarantula was small ( 1 to 2 inch) and unsexed. Date of birth is unknown but I got Burt on 7-9-24. He's a Bahia Gray Birdeater (Lasiodora Striatipes) and he had a cute enclosure but was in a mayo jar full of dirt for transport. In the very short time I've owned him, I've had to transfer him into larger enclosures. He is the largest T. I have right now at close to 5 maybe 6 inched and it's not slowing down at all. In November 2024 I got Harry, another Curly Hair from my local Petsmart. They never have the D.O.B. or sex information either. But Harry is 2-3 inches of full orange furry fluff!
I attended a reptile show (I live in Phoenix AZ) the weekend of March 16th where I purchased Rocky, an Amazon Blue Bloom (Xenesthis Intermedia) who is only 1 -2 inches now but was told he will get to be about the same size as a Birdeater.

Not all of my T' s have passed, I know it looks like that. Rosey, Rex, Burt, Rocky and Harry are still alive.
In addition to those, I have 2 Ball Pythons, a Cape House Snake, a Pied Python, a Leopard Pastel Yellowbelly Python and a Green Tree Python. Oh yeah, and a cat.

Welcome to the forum.

Among my collection is Hohokam. An Aphonopelma chalcodes, (Arizona Blonde.) Who is a real character & who can move sufficient substrate to build canals that could irrigate the Sonora desert. She is one of only 3 t's that I have named.

It's a strange hobby. How else could you walk into a shop & say, I want to buy an immature female Arizona blonde, as I want to breed with her & not get arrested?
