Looking at the size of it in the pics it's no where near big enough to be an MM.

I might be wrong because she said Rosie sling but is it not a Euathlus sp red? May explain why it's so small mature and why it was tiny when she got it

That's really strange if that is g rosea. My mm was like 4 or more inches he lived so long and ate so much he died trying to molt a second time as an mm. Really sad I found him frozen upside down trying to chew his Palps out. I am just gonna tell you give him water and try to feed him I wouldn't try to breed him. Btw if that's treated wood in one of those pictures that is surely toxic to a tarantula or anything for that matter. Good luck hope you get to enjoy him a little longer.

Seeing that the problem occurred after being handled I would think exposure to something toxic is the likely cause. Something on your hands or something else he's walked on or just something in the air itself. If you have pets that get treatment for fleas that could be a cause, even with systematic treatments pesticides can be present in the skin and hair therefore can be on your hands or in the air. Sprays of any kind contaminate the air, surfaces and everything else exposed to air in the house. Hands are always a likely cause of contamination, some things just don't wash off properly, particularly where a fragrance is involved, smell your hands after pushing a shopping trolley, they'll smell of perfume, deodorant or hand wash!. To me, if I can smell the soap etc after washing my hands then they are not clean, the soap has contaminated them. Also, after washing your hands what do you do? Touch the tap to turn off the water, the same tap you touched before washing your hands! Then of course your clothes contain residual chemicals from being washed, you touch them. I could go on and on listing possible ways your hands and surfaces in the house could be contaminated but basically anytime you touch an animal and/or their environment you take a risk. I will only do so after scrubbing well with a paste of bicarbonate soda , rinsing very well and drying with hypoallergenic tissues. It may seem excessive but it gives me peace of mind knowing what WASN'T the problem.

Hes a mature male...they die shortly after maturing. Its nature. If he didn't die on his own it would probably be a female eating him after breeding...its a life circle. Theres absolutely nothing you can do about it...sorry. Next time get a female...they can live 20 plus years.

So as quickly as a week after maturity? I know males don't live as long but through all calculations he's about 14/15 months old only maturing 2 weeks ago....

I had two lovely lady chillies best 10 years of my life (and I know that's young). Thank you

MM's drink a lot of water does he always have a full water dish with no sponge or rocks?
He could be severely dehydrated

I always make sure he's watered, I have other little lives that have fresh water etc daily, haven't changed the routine. It's definitely not a factor, but it would have been a good catch to sort out.

I've seen males pass on before making their first sperm web. Every day from the time he molted is one day closer to death...get it???
The first problem I've noticed is that after only a week of molting your getting him out and playing with him. He just had his ultimate molt. Hes still in a super fragile at this state. You need to give him at least 3-4 weeks to harden up. The weird positions you find him in is him stretching...it normal leave him alone. He needs to then hydrate and eat to get his strength back. Then he need to be a man and make his web. He doesnt need to be handled. The only thing he wants from now on is a girlfriend before he dies. He already knows hes going to die. Times ticking...
P.S. Edit your post....hes not a sling. Your confusing everyone.

Hey, I was unsure about whether it was a Rosie or not but got told from a local reptile and specialist that it definitely looked like a Chilean rose.

Did they not know the scientific name? Nowhere that knows about tarantulas would sell one using common name. Even a quick google search of Chilean rose tarantula gives: Chilean rose tarantula , Chilean red haired tarantula and Chilean fire tarantula(Grammostola Rosea) but it's not a g rosea.

Sometimes there's nothing you can do . In a last ditch effort if he is dehydrated or possibly sick. You can make an icu out of a jar or container about 2 or 3× his legspan. Put the t in then set something under the jar to tilt it a bit put a little bit of water in and put the contraption in a warm place. The t should be able to be on the high dry side with no trouble. It is the best way I've heard of to hydrate a tarantula it can easily drink this way. I've done it before and successfully rehydrated a few different t's over the years. Trying to help that's all I have though. Like I said sometimes there's nothing you can do and again this is a last ditch effort. He might just want to be left alone. I used milk instead of water for contrast haha.Dont use milk lol

ICUs are not as effective as once thought and just stress the T more.
