So yesterday I got a call from my local reptile shop telling me they had a guy in trying to sell a T, now they don't sell tarantulas so they phoned me to see if I would be interested. I wasn't going to bother but since the shop isn't far from me I thought why not go have a look, when I got there the guy selling the T didn't know what species it was and had it in too large an enclosure with a huge hide no water dish and bark chips instead of substrate, anyway I done a deal and got the T and enclosure.for a very good price so I'm now the owner of a species that I haven't kept in a few years and one that I was not planning on keeping again.
Anyway here's a couple of photos of my new T not the best pics but the best I can get with my phone.

I no the sub looks a bit wet but its just the photos,I've also not mentioned the species name as I'm interested to see if anyone thinks something different than what I think it is,also it will give you the experience that I had being confronted with a mystery T anyway guess away although it should be quite easy.....

I'm going with Grammostola, and leaning more toward porteri. Although mine have more defined twin white stripes.
A fine healthy looking T, nonetheless.
Congrats on the new addition!

OK, when are you going to reveal the species?
I know, " Same bat time, same bat channel!". [emoji6]

I'm convinced its a G.porteri too as I really can't think of any other species that it could be.
Although because I can't be 100% sure I won't be useing it for breeding,I only got it as I felt sorry for it being in an enclosure that was far to big and having to walk about on bark chips, plus the enclosure it was in will come in handy when I have to upgrade my A.genic enclosure.....

My curiosity got the best of me and went down to take a close look at mine. When holding the picture next to Lai-na, omg, you have one of her sac mates. Jk, I really enjoy all of mine even if many think they're " pet rocks". [emoji6]
Good to know it will be properly cared for. Plus you got a enclosure needed for a future rehousing. A "win, win" in my book. [emoji2]

Good to know their identical twins lol,
I really don't mind this species either the only reason that I wasn't planning on getting one was the last three I had all turned out male and had to be shipped off for breeding so I've got fingers crossed that this ones female,I'm going to let it settle in for a week or so then vent sex.....

I say it looks more like what I've seen labeled Grammostola sp. North. I think you are right to just call it Grammostola sp.. As there are a few Grammostola that all get imported and sold in pet stores as rose hairs.

I've spent the last hour or so looking at photos of G.sp north and mine does look similar so you could be right, but then when I compair it to photos of G.porteri it looks similar as well.
I think your right though and I should probably just go with Grammostola.sp as I'll probably never know for sure and since I'm not going to use this one for breeding it will save me from going crazy trying to find out lol...
