My T Doesn't Burrow...

Hello, first off I'm new to the forum and pretty excited to be a part of it!

I picked up my Chaco golden knee (Grammostola pulchripes) last week. Everything seems to be fine other than the fact that it doesn't burrow. I haven't changed the substrate from the stuff the pet shop used (not exactly sure WHAT it is, but the other golden knee juveniles at the store were borrowing into it). I'm wondering if anyone knows what's going on, or if it's anything to even worry about? It's still pretty young (about 3/4") and has just been moved, maybe that's part of it? I also live in a somewhat chilly area, and planning on getting a heater to warm up my room a bit. Would the cold weather be the cause of my T not burrowing?

Also, I thought I should add, not only does it NOT burrow, but it climbs the sides of its container like crazy. It refuses to burrow but loves to climb I guess?

It is just getting settled. Givet it time.

That's not unusual at all. If you can give it a little something to hide under it might settle down a bit

Check if your substrate is too moist or ground temp is too hot for them. Don't worry about your Ts not wanting to burrow as long as you keep its enclosure in a dim to dark area.

I have the same tarantula, mine doesn't burrow. A hide is supplied substrate kept to almost dry water dish supplied. This is dependant on your own area, but burrowing isn't a prerequisite. Some of my arboreal Tarantulas burrow as slings and juveniles, so a lot could be different to the expected norm.

Thanks guys, I changed the substrate in her container a few days ago and she seems to love it. Borrows all the time now!
