My G.Rosea is PSYCHOTIC

I've briefly mentioned about my second T which is a G.Rosea I named Iggy. Well, I don't ever think I've mentioned one fact that has been tormenting me with this thing- THIS SPIDER IS BEYOND AGGRESSIVE! Where is beyond aggressive? Who knows, but my spider has been able to find it.

Iggy hates the sight of me. Usually when I walk into my room, she will ready herself for pouncing at me (which she has done, so don't role your eyes to the possibility). She has also made the habit of watching my way out of the room (she literally spins to face me as I leave). Another thing important to mention- don't even bother touching Iggy. The first time I every tried testing her temperament with metal spoon handle, she quickly turned towards my hands with her legs up and fangs exposed. Recently, my father suggested that he try touching her with a wooden spoon handle, and since Iggy had been in an exceptionally good mood that day ('good' used lightly), I allowed him to do so under my supervision. From the first experience, I had honestly figured Iggy was a 'for show' spider and wouldn't actually attack. What happened when the spoon reached her leg? She bolted towards my dad and knocked the spoon out of his hand. My father actually admitted thatmy spider had strength to her!

This is a long thread, but I couldn't find a short way to talk about the terrible behaviors my spider has. Does anyone have this hard of a time with a G.Rosea? I know I'm not the only psycho rosie owner, but my t's behaviors have been awful compared to the others I've read about.

Very unlucky. They say 1 out of a 1000 g.rosea are aggressive and temperment ranges through the 1000. Mine are pretty docile, hell Seismic even crawls into my hand on her own. But an aggressive g. rosea sounds exciting also.

I feel like the only plus at this point that it makes her an aggressive eater. Feeding time is always exciting.

My bunch consists of two t's. I have my pyscho rosie here and my much smaller G.Pulchripes. He's a little sweetheart, so I've at least got one tolerable spider :p

Hi there.
My rosie is a real sweetheart but my sister also own a psycho rosie. Her rosie would run out of the enclosure every time she opened the lid to feed it. It just shows you how unique and special every little tarantula is. Her tarantula calmed down a lot as she grew up a little. She power fed her rosie for a while and after the second molt her tarantula was totally chilled. :)

They've got quirky personalities, that's for sure. My G. rosea is very jumpy and will frequently spin around to face me and throw a threat pose, but in her case it's just a bluff because a minute later she's like, "Aw, whatever", and is okay on my hand (albeit a little feisty). It's true, about 1 in a thousand Rosies is just plain nuts.

Recently took in a T - G. Rosea as a friend is in jail :( , Seems to have been neglected was in a 5 gallon with all wood chip no hut, barely fed. Misted directly daily as the girlfriend of the owner that is away seemed to have thought was proper... I have relocated to a 50 gallon(I know its large), and have filled it halfway (took 4x8qt bricks expanded) plantation soil coconut fiber(wood chip and moss now removed).

I have the exact same problem except to a new evil of intensity, when the tank was first set-up I decided on using some of the wood chip to familiarize it with its surroundings. I had laid a small path from the structure I placed in to the water dish. I had read that this was a bad idea and decided to remove the chips, when reaching into the tank the T was about 4" up on the far right wall.

Upon seeing my hand without any vibration caused, it leapt off the glass about 4-6" then ran and I don't mean it took its time, it rolled in the process then went on its back 4 and ran at me full flail reared. Legs vertical for the whole run slamming them off the dirt rhythmically. And it is persistent, will chase around as I clean. At on point it full sprint up the glass to the opening where I was defending with a spray bottle on slightly tighter than mist spray. The term "The spider goes down the waterspout" did not apply. It fought the water until I closed the enclosure centimetres from escape.I really want to video my encounters with this buggar. I have no intent on holding or bothering the T unless cleaning the tank, I have even added aquarium air hose and a small kitchen funnel to add water to the dish to prevent a startle.

Unsure of why it has done this to me as I was able to get it out of the chips and into this enclosure with no issue almost handling to get into a tupperware, Maybe after a molt and some proper care it will lighten its touch.

I have never owned a spider before but even this temperament has made me want to build a wall slowly of beauties. Any ideas or suggestions?
