remember him and that video. Scottish guy in his mid-thirties, named Steven, who went by the name Shampain88 on Arachnoboards. He posted that to the forum back in the autumn of 2017. He had been in the hobby for a hot second, gone practically straight to old worlds, then decided to pull that **** in the name of 'science' after having tarantulas for about a year... at best. He literally got chased off the forum for it, although there was a disappointing number of people who defended him. There were eight pages to that thread and you can see them here: https://arachnoboards.com/threads/p-murinus-bite.298496/ I don't know if he left voluntarily, or was kicked off, but I think he was gone shortly after posting that video. I heard he showed up on another forum that kind of has a reputation of taking the rejects from Arachnoboards (although I know a few members there and it really isn't like that). I don't know if he still posts there. I really hope he left the hobby, because he is the last person that this hobby, and responsible hobbyists, need. It wasn't just this video either, he was an asshole looking to these animals to prove his masculinity... basically just a dime a dozen punk. He has a photo out there of him handling a Phoneutria as well. He's also been accused of engaging in bigoted/racist rhetoric. I'm actually sorry to see that his pathetic display is still making the rounds."
Let me retort.... I’m 31 in August 2019, this crackpot is wrong... I joined this site in 2016 well before my bite video was posted on AB, look at how much support I got for being bitten ON PURPOSE! I actually got banned from AB for defending Jon, he was bombarded with insults so I let rip! The assholes at AB told him he was responsible for hundreds of sling deaths for giving out wrong info! I blew a gasket and got banned! Ask Kezy if I was chased off AB lmfao! How shallow!

I was on AB at the time....this wankers story is all wrong. You were never chased off for the bite video.

Rascism may be part of a survival response to virus and disease. Some races may carry disease that other races don't have immunity to. Not saying it's right to be racist, just saying that it might be a survival instinct. I heard a study about that a long time ago...

Racism doesn't exist in the US. Unless its toward white males. These idiots that run around calling people racist don't even understand the definition of the word. Here's something really, really racist: Affirmative action. Hiring based on race is about as racist as it gets.
As far as predjudice, that's mostly coming from minorities, towards whites. Its our own fault, too. Personally, I think some examples should be made, it would calm the ungrateful little brown ****s right down. Oh, shoot, I slipped up again..

One: Don't get me ranting about the board that shant be named.

Two: I got tagged myself, although by accident. It's not just about satisfying other's curiosity or providing entertainment. I think that realistic information about what can go wrong is helpful.

Even if someone says nope to that species or even the hobby, that's ok. It's best to get people that genuinely are happy doing what we do.

It would be tragic if someone just said to hell with it, got a bottle of Raid and just disposed of the tarantulas. I think keeping it real prevents this in some cases.

Three: The T stirmi was wild caught but she has really blossomed into an impressive specimen that is the picture of perfect health after her first molt. Each molt afterwards has been perfect so far, knock on wood.

I thought this site was about tarantulas, not right-wing ideology. I guess folks will spout off at any opportunity. I still don't understand what they're so afraid of. Regardless, posters should stick with the topic at hand.

This is a very old thread - but just to touch on your comments it's usually left wing liberals who are the first to shove there opinions down peoples throats
Shampain' s video was more in an 'educational' style as it were as everyone wants to know what it's like to be bitten by an OBT.. Well he answered that question in spectacular style- so it will always be talked about on social media and he will be forever judged on it but to be honest I'd don't think he gives a rats ass about it - it's not a handling video and was never meant to be one it is what it is
