Is this venom?

Fed my A. seemanni yesterday and after a few minutes, I noticed a clear, water drop looking liquid hanging off the dubia. I had just refilled her dish while I had the tank out but I don’t think there was any where she was (especially with the substrate that would soak it up quick). What do you think? Are dubia guts clear or is that just a lot of venom?

I have noticed that dubias spit a clear liquid when in distress (when I grab them out of the container) I'd guess it's that. Maybe ment to distract or deter predators

Ah that makes sense! I would have been quite surprised for a T to put out that much venom for something so small, she’s not exactly a rattlesnake

I doubt it was venom...such a small amount is used to kill their prey if any at all.

I noticed the Dubias I have do that too
Both when I garb them with my tongs and after they get taken by the tarantula

Maybe it just means they're juicy haha

True, but after all these years I'm still impressed with the length of those fangs for their size. I have a timber rattlesnake head for comparison. LOL

My cat scratched the heck out of my arm this morning (there was a dingleberry situation that I needed to attend to. It was not a great way to wake up lol). I imagine those fangs being even bigger and just sinking all the way in, and well, no thank you!
