You're funny. It's not trapped, it has 8 very capable legs, it's the best rock crawler nature made that can climb glass. You needn't worry and remember, millions of years of evolution.
I try. 8 legs, absolutely not getting trapped by the power of plastic hydrangeas! I’ll just stick to admiring how absolutely gorgeous she is while she’s letting me. Thank you. :)

Hello, I’m still very new to the hobby and very very nervous and worried I might be doing some thing wrong.
My tarantula has been stuck to the side of her enclosure for atleast a day now. I understand that these little critters are kind of sedentary and tend not to move for long periods of time. But she looks kinda uncomfortable?
Could someone please tell me what she’s doing and whether or not I ought to continue panicking?
Thank you! T^T
My Pink Toe does the same from time to time :) She looks perfect to me. I also freaked out the first time mine had some weird leg position and was sitting just like yours. This was monnnnnths ago, he's adjusted to his new tank since

Thank you for sharing! I’m used to cats and dogs and the spiders I had so far are more… in control of their limbs shall we say. Jumpers and lady bug spiders. This is a wild( ver slow but some how wild) experience for me lol. I hope mine adjusts to hers soon too!

I rehoused her on Saturday, she ate once after that. Headed to the back of the enclosure and hasn’t moved out front since. I can still see her clearly, enough to keep me at ease, if a only I knew about these things!
I’ve been watching the channels suggested by a log of lovely people like the tarantula collective and Tom Moran, and tarantula kat. But I don’t see any thing about this… weirdness. Or maybe I’m being weird . I dunno. Help T_T
I think arachnoclown is right as long as ur t looks healthy just found a spot it likes

Looking at your photos it looks like your hide is sitting more on top of the substrate with make it very open. It looks like the Tarantula is trying to find a place to hide. So if it were me I'd either cut the hide in half, or bury it more so it's not as open. When they try and find somewhere to more times than not it will be somewhere small and darker. It may not be big enough to feel comfortable out in the open just yet. And as far as not moving much, that's absolutely normal. They reserve energy almost constantly so that they can obtain prey when the time comes, and depending on the species and their size they may disappear into their hides for weeks or even months at a time. One of mine recently just emerged after about 3 months under ground, with a closed burrow. But when it's ready it'll emerge again, it knows what it needs and will accommodate itself however it feels necessary. As far as being uncomfortable, making a hide that's less exposed would definitely help it feel more comfortable and probably less defensive, or reclusive. Once it's accommodated, and is webbing or rearranging you'll more than likely see it's personality come out a bit more. But to me, it just looks like it's trying to find a place to hide.

On a side note: Tom Moran is an excellent choice and being part of forums will help also. Hope this helps.

Sounds like very solid advice, but I don’t know how I feel about messing about with her enclosure so soon. I just rehoused her and she’s very iffy about things as is…

I would do it sooner than later, either way its still new territory in her/his eyes. Then again you can wait, see if she adapts to it the way it is, and at that point it's better if you just leave it the way it is. The less you disturb them after they've settled in the better.

Me personally, I might try to create a darker place for her to hide in as Isaac said. I don't believe tarantulas have good memories. It may stay where it is during the day and may explore during the night. Who knows, its a tarantula.

Others can chime in too, but if it is in premolt, a little privacy might help.

After a rehouse they can take quite sometime to get adjusted to their new surroundings. I don't believe you have anything to worry about at the moment. Just my opinion. ✌

Ah. I’m just very confused at this point. In any case, nothing I can get done for atleast another week. I thought she had finally settled down and I went ahead and tried to get the pot deeper in, can’t cut it, I didn’t think to buy a buzz saw. At this point I might as well just put in that skull I originally planned to use as it’s much smaller, but that has a few pokey edges and it will probably be useless as soon as she molts. I can file the edges down of course.

I think I should add that she has spent her entire life up to this point in a small food container with some substrate at the bottom and no hide what so ever, but the shop is rather dark and there might have been another few dozen containers on and around hers.

I thought I should make positive updates as well and not just bug people with my problems.
My girl has moved into the hide and has been shoveling dirt around and is trying to stick cricket balls onto the sides of the little cave thing. She looks really relaxed and I feel so much more at ease and I just spent an unhealthy amount of time just staring at her shoveling dirt.
Thank you all so much for the advice and words of assurance.

Thanks for the update! Glad you are both settling in.

I find watching my tarantulas to be relaxing, especially when they are busy at work. So only you can say if your time was wasted, but it sounds to me like time well spent. People relax in so many ways, including watching nature, even if that nature is indoors.

And don't ever feel like your questions are bothersome. I tend to worry a lot, more so than needed. So I have found this forum to be very welcoming, understanding willing to help and ease my concrerns.
