I want to switch my T hide while it's hiding, big deal?

If it’s dark after adding water, and the substrate around it is light, it’s retaining some kind of moisture. I think you’re overthinking all of this.

This is an example of how it should look. The light substrate is dry, while the dark part is moist. Overflow whenever you see the dark part losing color.

Over time you’ll get an idea of how it should look. I think I overflowed the pictured water dish a week and a half ago, and it’s still retaining moisture well. You don’t want to over do watering to where the substrate looks wet with deep puddling.

Your best bet is to start the overflow, take a pic and post it, and check back with us in a week.

Is it better to overflow one side or in a 360 degree angle

Keep the water dish flat on the substrate, pour water until it flows over. If it's in a corner, it will flow right out in the corner and down.

That's right, you have the big Gatorade one. Hmmm, what happens when you put it directly in the corner?

Either way I don't think it will be an issue.

I would think that it wouldn't avoid walking on substrate that's dried on the top around the water dish after it's been overflowed?

You are really overthinking this dude, seriously. If the tarantula is thirsty it will drink.

That is true, but at the same time, it will drink when it needs to.

Did you try putting the dish in the corner and overflowing? My pic is an example of that. That is how you want it to look.

If you don't want to overflow, keep the dish full. Remember that not all T's take to water dishes.

On the other side of the enclosure, use a wash bottle or similar tool to dampen a corner.

I remember you saying the Pulchra is acting weird, what's it doing?

Try pressing the corner against the wall. Let it dry out a bit, looks sufficient for the time being.

Mine is touching the wall, so when it overflows it hits the wall first and drips down.

You don't think it's okay to just leave it here? I already pushed it closer to the corner than it was and it seemed to go behind the water dish instead of all the way around. I replaced some of the substrate that's why you can't see it around the entire thing.
