Hi guys/girls.
I looked into my tank this morning to find my Mexican red leg is hiding under her bark but has pulled all the substrate closing the entrance?
Is this normal?
I've had her for a week now. Haven't seen her feed yet either.

Thanks for stopping by

I do have picture on my camera at home. I can post some tonight when I get in. Her colours are still bright but she has been moving around very slowly. And she hasn't laid any webbing unless it's under her bark. I'm not so sure there is enough space in her dug out to turn over either.

Thanks for stopping by .
I'm in the uk and winter has just kicked in. She is in the warmest place in the house.
Cheers

You should see a button at the bottom saying "Upload a File" whilst replying to the thread. You can then select you picture and it will give a choice of Thumbnail or Full image. You can choose which you prefer and it will then insert it into your reply.

Great T you have there.

It looks very healthy and I'm sure she is fine, so no need to worry. Its colors do seem a bit dull from the what I can see on the picture so it might well be preparing for a molt. But that's just my thought.

Hi Gavin. Thanks for your reply.
So what do I do in the mean time? Leave her to it? There is a loctus within the tank which I will remove when I go home. I sat last night and watched my GBB spin some webbing. I could sit all day happly watching.

Thanks again for your time

Yes, just let her be and wait. T's will teach you a lot of patience. They're masters of that. :D

Yes I'd also remove the remaining food in her enclosure if I were you.

My suggestion would be that you should offer her food once every 1-2 weeks and if the food is still there the following day then remove it. Then you can try again in a week or two.

Good luck with your T. :T:

Could be pre-molt, but I've had new ones do that. You say you have had her a week? Some of my new ones would wall themselves in like that until they figure out whats going on. I've had them stay there for 1 month or more. Never molted, just wanted to feel safe I guess. A lot of people say theirs do that when they molt. For some reason all mine have always molted right out in the open. I made a video of my G. porteri from the time he flipped over till he was done. Hope you get to see one molt someday, it is amazing to watch.

Hi Rick. Yes I've only had her for a week. To be honest I haven't seen much of her as she is always hiding. She was out last night but has enclosed herself in her hide. I need to read up on names as BossRoss says in the post above. I've had a tarantula before about 15 yrs ago Chilean rose. (Male) he moulted out in the open..

Thank for stopping by

She will come out and when she feels comfortable she will probably molt in the open. Don't worry too much about using common names, I do all the time and people know what I'm talking about. We want a friendly board here, where the common guy or gal can come to talk, not a scientific one.

Hi guys/girls.
So I've came in from work tonight and went to feed my GBB 1 pin head cricket which he/she nailed within 5 seconds. So I closed the lid and looked into my B.Emilia enclosure. The entrance she blocked off looks like she has pushed a hole in it. And also there has been some substrate moved at the other end of the bark. Is this normal?
Could she need more air?

Thanks for stopping by

Could she need food? Looks like she has been out then blocked herself in again?

She must of came out last night. I don't know if she is looking for food. I only know she has been out because there is a few things that have moved in her enclosure.
