What experience do you have with invertebrates so far? Gbbs are easy enough to care for as long as you understand that they can be pretty quick. I'd say its doable for sure.
Well, I have never owned a invertebrate, but i have owned lots of other animals such as a, veiled chameleon, 2 parakeets, one parana, and a oscar fish.

Great species, a must for any collection. My current GBB is kind of crazy, to be honest. Its last rehouse was 20 minuets of threat postures and slapping. Also the only tarantula i’ve ever had get out of its enclosure on me twice. Wouldn’t change a bit of her since I absolutely adore her, but just be aware this is in their arsenal. Happy keeping!

One suggestion for GBB's, is always feed them on an uncluttered table & have a catch cup handy. Ours often makes a bolt for freedom.

Also, if like me, you keep it in a top opening enclosure. Consider covering part of the top of the enclosure in paper. So that you can take the lid off the enclosure & not destroy the GBB's webbing.

Our GBB, likes the area between the paper & the lid. Which is always a positive with a heavy webbing species. As I get to see it out.

Those guys are fairly bullet proof as a beginner species and tolerate neglect very well. The biggest issue is you cannot have it too humid in there. They are a desert species despite their proximity to the coast and do not lose moisture through the cuticles as most species do. I would recommend a top opening enclosure and make sure you have anchor points below the lid. As long as your highest anchor point is below the level of the lid you shouldn’t have any issues with accessing the enclosure. All of mine are content to sit very still in one spot and wait for food to fall from the sky. Definitely a must have for any collection.

Carson, you will be fine. Great species. Colorful. Web furiously. Voracious appetite until pre-molt. Can bolt, but they don't go far. A catch cup is all you need. Don't flick hairs in general. Great first choice. Good luck!
