I agree that pet shops don't really know, but they also disingenuously misrepresent things and then say that they were misadvised. I understand they are in business to make a living, and times are tough, but if they had any integrity, they would stand behind their mistakes and make it right. Very few do.

The petshop where I bought my seemanni they sell all Ts as females. Like they had some T vagans slings and they assume they are females. I ask them how do they know and they say they got the info from the supplier which is a lie. They just dont care

When females fetch a higher price it's in their advantage to err on the side of profit. If they get "caught" they just blame their supplier or breeder, whatever.
Also, the profit margin of the LPS is set really high because their expertise is low and the risk of loss is high - a solid percentage of pet store Ts (and other stock) die before they can sell them. That loss is passed on to the customer in the form of pricing.

My LPS sells 2i GBB slings for $139, and the average customer base they carer to are high-earning impulse buyers and their kids. If the sling dies, which is very likely will, it's the kids fault, and they come back to buy an easier T, like a rose hair or curly hair 1" sling for $30. Common names only a too.

Hi, I got a Red Rump Tarantula last September and it is my first spider.
She's been fine, moulted well a month ago, and hasn't displayed any abnormal behaviour until today. She made a bunch of webbing over the wall and ground and layed on top of it on her back. I went through Google and it kept telling me shes moulting but she moulted recently and should be moulted about once a year. I thought she was dead at first and panicked. When I stroked her with a paintbrush she responded but her back lega weren't moving. I think she may be dehydrated but I'm not sure what to do. I flipped her to her belly and she isn't moving.
What should I do????
You shoukd not flip her over on her belly if she is molting . if she is molting again already it is for a reason. So if you can without hurting her if she hasnt flipped on her own put her back like you found her. Nothing you can do but let her do what she knows how to do. Sometimes a tarantula molts more than once in a shorter time. There are several reasons they might do this. But if she is molting again you dont want to mess with a T when its molting. They pump fluid betweenbthe new and old exoskeleton to squeeze out. If some legs werent moving its 99 percent probable those legs were in a process were she didnt need to or couldnt move them at that time. If you can put her back where she was do so. I understand the not knowing can be scary. But they know what they are doing. If she is molting you cant stop her and last thing you want to do is flip her back on her stomach .but since you already have too late so if she hasnt flipped back over on her back please put her back the way you found her. Its the best thing to do in my opinion. I have raised and sold over 1000 tarantulas so based on my experience thats what I would do. Then if theres an issue after she does what she is going to do deal with it then but for now you gotta let hwr do what she is gonna do. Maybe she just needed to molt again it happens sometimes. What type of T is it. How big is it.
