Hu guys. Marilyn was in her tank at 12pm when i left the house. Its now almost 7pm and ive come home to find her gone. Lid of tank is still on but tiny wire mesh piece on one of the cutouts has been push off slightly so looks like shes moved that and got out. Ive put my cats outside now but have no idea where she is. Shes a mexican red knee. Ive triple checked tank and shes not in her cave and no substrate been moved to say shes burrowed

I'd stuff the underside of the doors and start searching dark places CAREFULLY, beyond that I don't know, put her water outsidee and you may see her near it, i'd put soft things below potential drops, good luck D:

Yikes!

Start combing every dark place you can find. under furniture, carpets, curtains, even if you think there is no way she could have gotten there, check.

Good luck...

I live in a tiny cottage and shes a fair size so don't know why i cant find her. Really hope she hasn't managed to get outside. Its been pouring down all day and freezing cold out so i doubt she would have wandered out. Have searched everywhere. My next door neighbour who has also owned Ts came and looked and he cant imagine where she could be. Hes baffled and im getting worried about her.

Just keep looking. Keep in mind, if she's going to be active it will be night time. Check the bed covers, and gaps in baseboards, and keep hoping. I have often heard they will try to find the warmest, most humid place in the home and many end up in the bathroom.

Checked under the sink and in the shower yet?

Yep have checked under kitchen sink cupboard. The boiler cupboard in bathroom, but thats upstairs, do you think she would have walked that far? Her tank is in the living room downstairs. Im back in there now with all the lights off, the tv on and her water dish on the floor and my desk lamp on floor next to it so shes got a warm patch to lure her back...pic below. im going to stay up all night. My poor cats arent happy being outside though but dont think its a good idea to let them back in, even though they are proper lap cats so would prob only stay on sofa with me anyway. Ive never handled this T as shes a hair kicker so am quite dreading finding her then trying to get her back into tank

Random and prob stupid idea, but thought it doesn't hurt to ask. Could i try and mimic a male drumming on her tank to lure her back????

You absolutely sure she has got out ?
Try leaving little things dotted about that she can hide in like tubes off toilet rolls so she can hide in them if she is wandering about. Can you put the cats in a room on there own where they won't find her if she is wandering about.
Hope you have found her by now.

Yep def gone, taken everything out tank to check. Ive put cats up in bedroom after i checked that room for her again. My cottage is was built in the 1600s so its got thick stone walls but loads of cracks and gaps, so am worried shes squeezed into one and is too cold to move to get back out :(

What heating have you got? she has probably snuggled up somewhere warm. I doubt if she has got stuck somewhere.

Gas central heating in living room, bedroom and bathroom. No heating in kitchen. Also have electric heater in living room ..pic below, only flame effect on it, heat comes up and out of vent on top between the photo frames

They are not stupid, she will turn up. Leave some things in a warm place for her to hide in, if she snuggled up in a toilet roll tube or something will make it easier to put her back in her enclosure when you find her.

So sorry about your T's escape...I once lost a sling and never found it. :( Beyond what you're already doing I don't have any suggestions, but if you don't find her right away it doesn't necessarily mean she's gone forever. I've heard of people finding their lost Ts a long time after their escape. Good luck to you. :)

I'd just be sure that your house always stays above the low 60's and like HQ said I'd leave a whole lot of(shallow) water around and good potential hides, coffee mugs maybe, also I'd put some by the heating areas. I personally would have several soda/water bottle caps/any spare lids around/cut the bottoms out of plastic cups and use that for water around the house, near a hide. and maybe dead crickets in the area if you have any/feel like buying any, i THINK T's scavenge. best of luck

Thank you all for your help. Its very much appreciated. Havent hoovered/vacumed my floor since she escaped incase i don't see her and pull a leg off or something. In my search for her ive disturbed loads of massive house and garden spiders that must be coming in to escape the cold so shes got lots to eat aswell as the crickets i will leave out for her.
