Help (bigger house? Molting?))

My Bobby (curly hair taran)
Has been very active (walking around) it's 20cm × 20cm house My boss got worried it was to small and she told me to get a bigger house. I have got a slight bigger house but Bobby still very active. I'm worried Bobby has lost all his hair on it's abdomen when it was in its small house. I was under the impression he was going to molt. 3 weeks later still not molting.

If Bobby is a mature male he may not be molting but searching, searching for a female! I got to say though that is bout the baldest T I personally have every seen ..lol Also I think the abdomen still is still rather brown and would be gravitating toward black if your T is about to molt.

Without knowing Bobby's size it is hard to say if 20 X 20 i too small. But a Tarantula enclosure needs to be approximately 1.5 times larger than it's Diagonal legspan. So 20cm is fine for a T up to about 8cm T & too small for something around 10cm.

Does your T have some cover to go under & feel safe below? Some T's never use cover. Others need it.

Look under Bobby's front leg for tibial hook below it's leg joints. A like Tarantula Trooper, I suspect Bobby maybe a mature male.

Male T's always prowling about looking for them gals...lol! My fossorial King baboon is not so fossorial now! Bolt risk now when I open the enclosure! Kinda heartbreaking he maled out! One of my OGs when I got back to keeping T's four years ago! My OBT OG, Trump, maled out and had passed. Huge male! He was bigger than my King! My M . Balfori is the only one that's female out the originals and we brought her through a bad molt! Such is T keeping. Happy ️ spidering!

Once a male hooks out. (Matures.) The only thing on their mind is finding a mate. They often do not eat properly or drink sufficiently & normally die within a year or so of maturing. Although some Mature Male's can carry on for 2 or 3 years.
