Hi there everyone! I'm new to forums and such but my hubby and I have been in the hobby for years and years. He got it started of course and I went from tolerating to loving every one of them. Here is our lineup:

Charlotte - Haitian Brown (Phormictopus cancerides) our youngest
Doser - Brazilian Giant Whiteknee Tarantula (Acanthoscurria geniculata)
Morpheus - Brazilian Salmon Pink Birdeater (Lasiodora parahybana)
Neo - Burgundy Goliath Birdeater (Theraphosa stirmi)
Rosie & Switch -both Chilean Rose hair (Grammostola rosea)

I figured it was time to join a T community to share and help others with the hobby. Most people just think we are crazy and don't get it. They are scared of my babies and don't like when I post pics of them or their enclosures we sometimes work so hard on. I do a lot of research before re-housing them and I'm quite frankly tired of hearing "O my god, that thing is gross" or "Ewww!" lol I think they are amazing creatures that deserve our respect. Personally I don't hold them. I enjoy providing for them in every other way and watching them exist. We also have 3 dogs, 2 cats and a leopard gecko...I hold them. :)

Hello and welcome
These creatures people find gross are amazing, not only because of their different things they do but what they offer. I have a file of experiments being done on their venom, from anesthesia to heart medication. Except for that, they fill a place in the Eco system keeping other mammals or insects in check.

Well, at first glance tarantulas are a little scary. But once you get to know them they tend to grow on you, if only a little. My sister has a major dislike for spiders in general but in the last year as my collection has grown she has warmed up to them, I think---as long as they don't go near her! Welcome and nice collection you have, btw!
