So this is my first T <3 i chose the G.Pulchripes because of their "gentle nature" and their crazy gold knees! I do not hold him often cuz he's still so small but he is pretty curious feeling around my hand.
Curious question though...when i got him as a small sling, by the time he had his third molt, his leg came off!! What happened? :( is this normal??

Don't worry too much about it. My a.versicolor sling lost a leg during a molt and grew it back after the next one. It's not very common, but not unheard of either. Just make sure there isn't anything in his enclosure that could be potentially damaging, and feeding him well and making sure there is water and the proper humidity will help a long way during future molts.

Great choice in spider! G. Pulchripes was my first tarantula and it's 1.5 inches right now. They're such sweethearts!

How long did it take for you to get it from a sling to that big?? I heard they grow really slow but its only been 5 months and the little guy has had 3 molts already.

I got my Chaco almost four months ago when he was just about an inch, so we are both fairly new to this tarantula. Mine has only molted once since I've gotten it, but I'm hoping for it to have another molt soon. You know, I hear they molt really quickly or really slowly, no in-between. Anyway, I'm exactly with you on the size thing. I can't wait for it to grow up and be massive! This last molt for my Chaco finally showed bright golden knee caps and a dark body to go with it! They're a really gorgeous species!

I have a 4 inch female who loves to sleep inside her water dish. If you choose to moisten her substrate she gets paranoid and hangs out by the sides til it dries up. Quite finicky lol

Ohhh I think that's what mine is going. Lil guy crawled up the sides of the tank and I'm assuming he doesn't like moist soil cuz he would touch it and be like..."meh"...and crawl back up the glass.
