You have to sneak up on them man. Open the enclosure more carefully and wait a moment for them to relax. Spiders go into fight or flight mode a lot of the time when they know you're there and won't eat while they're like that

Which is also weird, because if I turn out the lights out for a minute after 11 pm I can turn the lights back on and watch it walk around it's enclosure.

My C versicolor as well as my male P striata will chase my finger across the underside of the screen is I gently scrape it with my fingernail.

It's the best way to get them to appear.
