Hi,

I'm in the process of moving, and the new place I'll be living previously had a dog living there. Is this a cause for concern for my Ts?

Any advice would be appreciated

I shouldn't think it would be an issue.

I know guys who own dogs AND tarantulas. They share the same house. Think about how spiders are in the wild... subject to everything - including living in proximity to many, many other wild species, including canines (wolves, coyotes, foxes, african painted dogs, the list goes on).

On the positive.... enjoy your new place :)

The only concern I have as far as my dog and my tarantulas would be him being in the spider room unsupervised. He’s not even smart enough to mess with them, he’s just a wrecking ball. Now the cat on the other hand...

But this is where dogs only lived there before she is moving in.

There are currently no dogs. So I can't think this would any problem at all.

If the OP is overly concerned, they can give the place a quick clean down with wet wipes and a vacuum. But I suspect it's already been cleaned prior to him/her moving in (most places are required by law to clean up).

My main concern is if the dog had flea or tick treatment.

I've got pitbulls...all of them are on flea and tick medicine, even my cats. I also have the perimeter of my house sprayed yearly for ants, No issues.

As for pets and spiders my dogs have no interest in the spiders. Even spiders loose on the floor or walls in the spider room. In fact Lucy my female pit will point them out to me. Shes really gentle to all tiny creatures. Now my cats are a different story. Cats are evil... ;)

While we’re on the subject...

Honestly my cat doesn’t even care about the spiders, he’s far more interested in the crickets. He did get a threat pose from the OBT for sniffing the shelf, but what else is new?

Not a problem. I have had both together for more than 30 years without issue. I have 3 dogs now and have had all of the time I have had my spiders. Neither of them cares or is bothered by the others, total non issue.
