I've read that a lot of folks have that issue. I was arachnophobic for YEARS, and then for a while I was totally good with tarantulas, but true spiders freaked me out. Now, I've been desensitized to both. I picked a house spider up with my bare hand the other day and thought nothing of it. it was a loooooong time coming, though. :)

My friend here at work has a bugzooka. I've been looking at getting one so i can catch and release the house spiders, rather than splatter them on the wall.

You're not alone. I can let a T walk across my hand or touch their webs but a house spider or its web still make me cringe.

What is it about spiders that make you cringe? For me they are bloody ugly and creepy expecially daddy long legs.

It's the way they seem to run at you that gets me especially when you have bare feet. What I can't understand is why are Ts so adorable when we still hate spiders.

Maybe if we captured a spider and treat it like a pet we might act differently I dunno can't get my head around it either.

I cannot stand the spiders in my house. I don't kill them, but I also don't want them anywhere near me. I love the jumping spiders, however. But the worst is when you're lying in bed and one is hanging from silk right in front of your face..

Bugzooka is a large syringe type device that you use to collect insects. Not sure why they named it after a bazooka as it doesn't shoot them lol.

It's actually kinda cool. Thinking of getting one for my niece and nephew's birthday's this spring.

wonder if you couldn't just make one out of a couple pieces of pvc? maybe even a wide mouth funnel on the capture end? the vacuum parts not really necessary, we all know they like to run and hide lol

Probably. The vacuum part is fun for the kids though ;)

I do not feel this way. This is because my appreciation for spiders started with jumping spiders. I don't even kill a spider if I see it in my house. I usually capture it with a deli cup and let it outside. Sometimes I even let the spider stay where it is! If it wasn't for true spiders I don't think I'd even keep tarantulas! However, I do feel more comfortable handling tarantulas than true spiders.

Im ok with moving or handling any of them but the recluses and widows, most all of the others just want to hide, adore the wolf spiders, one of my favorites and naturally my yard would be empty and boring without all the Argiope aurantia I have here, there's always one or two that web my porch and I guard them most carefully ^^ (I'd love to have a huntsman as well but they generally only live a couple years :()
