I just got this sweet deal for a 30 gal. fish tank that I'm going to use for my L. klugi but the light is so bright.
Should i cover it up with some electrical tape and just let some light slip through? what is your opinion?

As long as your T has a hide and direct sunligt doesn't shine on it then it doesn't matter at all.. The genus Lasiodora are considered pet rocks as adults anyway and would rather stay out in the open than hide all day

Im not talking about direct sunlight, I'm talking about fish tank lights and they are bright as heck. so what i did is cover the middle part and just let some light slip through mainly to the sides so it doesn't directly shine on the tarantula..

May i ask, is lasiodora from the tropics or desert? :s
