cross ventilation in glass tanks

The holy Grail had always been how to cut holes in glass. A practical too may have been found.

I haven't tried it yet myself but experimentation but anyone might be a good idea.

Folks in the fish aquarium hobby have been drilling holes in their glass tanks for years. As long as it's not tempered glass, a diamond tipped hole saw will make the job easy. You cannot drill tempered glass without shattering it.

These bits can also drill into less then half an inch of concrete and porcelain. I wonder if they could do tempered glass anyway.

It might even be worth an experiment!!

Feel free to try that experiment, just be sure to wear safety goggles because it won’t work.

Tempering of glass makes the outer surface compresses and the center is under tension. After its tempered, it is tougher but any puncture will shatter it. Thats why you only have to hit a piece of car window glass in one spot for the whole thing to shatter into little discs.
