Mine was from Birmingham Reptiles and Pets. Also got an Ivory ornamental (Poecilotheria. subfusca) from there too. Chris who works there is a nice fella.

What did everyone get? I'm sure I'm not the only one that got a new T from Santa. My birthday was in early Dec. We drove to JR's Invertebrates and got me two new T's (P. regalis and P. irminia). While we were there, I sneaked an A. geniculata for my daughter's Xmas gift while she wasn't looking. But, unbeknownst to me, at the same time, my wife and daughter were sneaking a B. smithi for me. It was a total surprise to get it this morning. Thanks to JR for the help with both surprises.

So, what did you guys get?

I got a B. smithi 1/4 sling and a 2" OBT.... due to arrive in the post tomorrow... wonder if using carving gloves is the best bet for rehousing my little orange friend... :)

A.Purpurea is beautiful in my opinion. I have a sling, very slow grower(although I do not power feed my tarantulas so that could be part of it). I also think it's one of the most busy of my tarantulas,

So for my Xmas present to myself I ended up getting P.Bromelicola, P.Cambridgei, M.Robustum, and an LP(freebie).

I haven't been on here in a while. Glad to see all the replies and new additions by everyone. The little smithi that Santa brought me molted yesterday, so yahoo! Also, my daughter (10) informed my wife and I yesterday that she wants spiders for her birthday in March. She already owns 2 1/2 T's and a forest scorpion, not to mention her other scaly and furry pets. I've raised someone as dorky as myself, yay! She's mentioned G. pulchripes, A. seemani, and T. violaceus. But, we'll be looking into more species and I'll help her decide when the time comes.

@eminart Congrats on the moult. Just a word of warning if your daughter is wanting a Tapinauchenius, they are extremely skittish and very fast although the violaceus isn't quite as bad as the gigas.

Thanks for the info. I doubt we'll go with that one, but she's very mature and understands that all T's have different behaviors. And, we're not handlers.

i'd suggest the GBB for a first T. beautiful colors, calm, at least until feeding time, and really cool to watch.

Out of all of ours the GBB is the one i find myself watching the most. Mostly because the rest have buried themselves or they're hiding in the hides ;) Even without that she's one of hte most active. She's always exploring, or fixing/adding webbing to her plants, not even close to being a pet rock :) she's quite active.

I thought she might like a GBB too, but this won't be her first T. She has a B. albopilosum, A. geniculata, and half ownership of an A. metallica right now. So, it will be her 3rd and a half T. ;)
