so I was discussing my love of Pumpkin Patch tarantulas with a friend which reminded me to check on the sling I'm keeping.... and when I go to check on it I couldn't find it.. I find a bug I thought that was pre-killed that I tossed in ALIVE for some reason.... I found what i thought MAY be the withered sling corpse, but I'm wondering if the feeder insect ate my sling.... very sad and feeling like a horrible parent
:(

Reminds me of a prized black widow that I raised as a kid. It was a tri-color racing swirls...what I called it. Only one I have seen with so much color in a sub adult. I wanted to feed her something handy. The first thing I found was a common cellar spider. I pulled off a couple of legs and tossed it in. Came back from school and my prized tri colored racing swirls was dead! In spite of being handicapped and unable to bite me, it began to make a meal of my.pet. I was shocked.

I feel your pain neighbor.
What did you feed your pumpkin?

Thinking about it now I feel irresponsible for this, but I ran out of food so I caught some bugs outside that I killed and tossed into the enclosure.... not sure what it was, but one came back to life and my T was missing so I ASSUME that something happened between the two...

Well I had been feeding it pinhead crickets until I ran out and emergency ordered some waxworms. In the meantime I had caught some bugs outside like how I used to do for my jumping spider. It looked sorta like a silverfish, but way smaller... like a shrimp, but not a silverfish idk. Thought I killed the damn thing ,,

Just objective friend sitting back watching what you described. No judgement here. We've all had escapes at some point. I'd ask myself, "Is it possible that it flew the coop?"
Maybe removed the top, he went outside while you came back OR just hanging out until you opened the house door and pulled a Hoodini?.....(I sure hope that wasn't Biden speak). If so, when you tossed Cornpop in there, maybe your model T bird is out wandering around wondering, where's my meal?....No malarkey!
Just some campaign trail talking points and wishful thinking. Just watch your step until you're sure.

Yeah, thats a real drag. For future reference you can get mealworms quite cheap at most common pet stores. My slings eat cut segments willingly. You can keep them refrigerated wich helps them last much longer. At 3 to 5 bucks a tub, its worth your piece of mind even if you have only one sling. HOWEVER! They are like potatoe chips, ya cant have just one.
