Hello everyone.
I'm Steph and new to this forum. So I'm thinking of getting a brazilian Whiteknee. I was first thinking about the brazilian black since its a great first T. I own many reptiles and this would be my first tarantula. I decided not to go for the brazilian black because I want something with a bit more to look at not just one solid color.

I've been hearing mixed things about this tarantula. Some say its pretty aggressive and some say its pretty calm. I know every animal is different, different personalities so most likely will have to get one and see. I will be starting with a spiderling since I want to raise it..

If anyone can give me some advice on caring for this type of tarantula or your experiences with them I would really appreciate it.

G pulchra is a beautiful creature. Its beauty is the stunning simplicity of the deep silk black color.

The A brocklehursti is also a very attractive tarantula. They are more nervous and can be defensive at times but mine has never given me any trouble. They do have a very strong feeding response, which many mistake as "aggressive" behavior. In fact they are just very quick to respond to movement by going for the kill and asking question later.

The Brazilian Giant Whiteknee is not calm! :p I have a sling that is about 1.5 inches and it readily goes into a threat pose if I disturb it. It's also very skittish and lightening fast. That said, I will say that it can make a great first tarantula as long as you don't attempt to handle it. It is super fun to feed and grows very quickly...with each molt the change in size is pretty impressive. Mine has molted twice and has gained about a 1/2 inch with each molt. Not to mention it is also a beautiful tarantula! If you're considering a Whiteknee, go for it...just don't try to make it a handpet! ;)

P.S. If you decide to get one, check out jamiestarantulas.com...this is where I got my Whiteknee. Good luck!
