Hii so I went and ordered a new house for the tarantula has you suggested, I’m still waiting for it to be made but she opened her hide finally and came out a little bit I guessed for food…
I dropped a worm and she jumped on it and took it down the hole.
Today she came out again but this time only with her butt and she did it few times already not sure why? Is there a reason? Is that a normal behaviour?
No worries we're all here to help

I’m so glad to hear she’s eating! That’s a good sign she’s on the mend. I definitely will say some space, make sure she has a good water dish, and time.

I think a rehouse will work out better. I will say less is more. When they are slings-juveniles, I’m a believer of function over beauty. I like breeding boxes for juveniles and sub adults. I like experimenting with different enclosures from homemade-high end. Amazon has been my friend for enclosures and I’ll be making some enclosure videos soon to help out anyone looking for cost effective and reliable enclosures. None of my enclosures that are for my slings-juveniles have been more than $25. Slings, a lot of what I use comes in a pack of 6-8. For adults, that’s where I drop some money because I am not expecting to rehouse unless there’s an issue.

Leading with the booty is normal. Most of my Ts that are defensive, or even wanting to be left alone, always are butt out because that’s where their urticating hairs and can flick if they want. I noticed mine like to do more as slings than juveniles.

That's normal behaviour, you should notice another change in behaviour when you rehouse it. When there in something that big they will basically make a burrow there home and stay in it, if it's smaller they will tend to treat the entire enclosure as there burrow, I will get you a pic of a G. Pulchripes I have that has never even attempted to burrow because of this. Getting you the pic as it needs a rehouse anyway it moulted a few days ago.

@AndrewClayton hey I wanted to ask how often should I feed the tarantula? I’m not even sure if it’s still sling or juvenile already a small size worms that’s all I have @Casey K.
And also I haven’t picked the tarantula on my hands for almost half a year, do you have any suggestions how to start slowly without making too much stress?

Hello there, hun. If it were me and I was concerned about the health of my tarantula, I would start at the burrow and try to find it in it's enclosure. It's not uncommon for tarantulas to remain burrowed for some days or months or even go through a period where they fast (usually around the time they molt). If you destroy some of its web, don't worry....it can always build new. Now, I don't recommend this and to destroy a tarantulas home for any reason....I would only do it if there is lack of activity for an extended period of time. Remember, you can always start a new burrow/hide for it. It's better to be safe knowing that your spider is ok than risk not knowing at all and the only way you can know it's safe at this point is to find it. That's what I would do, anyway. I'm sure others here have their own opinion and way that they would deal with this situation, too. Do what you think is best for your spood. :)

At that size of abdomen I wouldn't bother feeding at all it looks really fat. I don't think it will even take food at that size. After it moults leave it until it either opens up it's burrow or if it hasn't burrowed a week after it moults at that size and the bigger it gets the longer you leave it after a moult. Adults I leave at least 3 weeks before feeding but give them a large meal. Are you going to rehouse it into something smaller? If so, but it's burrowd away, leave it until after it reamerges before the rehouse, if it isn't burrowed away or got a blocked off hide feel free to rehouse it but then leave it a few weeks to settle. Then if it hasn't moulted or that you could offer some pre killed prey, remember to remove after 24 hours if not eating to avoid mould.

Also what would you say the Diagonal leg span would be? Or the body size from chelicerae to end of abdomen not including spinnerets? This will tell if it's a sling or juvenile.

Sorry missclicked and sent it..

Hey there!
Since it’s my first tarantula I really do not know if it’s normal or not but I’m kinda worried because it’s most of the under that huge rock where basically he acts as he’s hide but after I picked up the rock and saw it I was sure that it’s okay since I can see the molt at the corner of the rock sticking out underneath so I’m positive that it’s molted successfully.
As I saw before it also came out and took a worm but I mainly see him coming out with his butt half body and just stays half in the burrow half outside,
He’s not really walking around the enclosure like he did at the begging when I got him.
I have made an order of a new house from the materials you suggested to me. But it has been almost 2 weeks and it’s not ready yet and also I think I have gave them wrong cm measures and made it too big or tall..
But I have to wait and see when it’s done, this is the only reason I’m not touching the tarantula…
I can pick up that huge rock and remove it totally but then it will be empty and I’m scared it will climb and fall
Also I’m attaching a photo of the size I requested to make, this is a photo I found on amazon but I cannot order from them because of my location
do you think it too big?
I plan on putting at least half height with substrate and maybe water bowl and a rock or something.

Thank you so much for your help.

By the way I don’t know if you guys know Discord but I think but I think creating one for this forum can be amazing and extremely helpful

Yeah they Amazon ones work fine as an enclosure. Don't worry about it not being as active, T's will change behaviour between moults, also it will have made it's burrow and comfortable most species are like this when juvenile will hide away and be more out when there larger. Giving it a smaller enclosure chances are it will be out more. Can't wait to see the new setup.

I am not sure but the person who told me this tarantula is called Mexican red belly if I’m not wrong
Yeah that is actually now Tliltocatl Vagans the Brachypelma Genus had a review and some left the genus to a new genus. There gorgeous as adults. You should type Tliltocatl Vagans in the search bar there will be a load of stuff to read up on. Obviously Brachypelma Vagans too it's the same spider.

Well that’s amazing to know!!!
I just checked around and she will be beautiful when large! I also understood that female live much longer than males so I’m happy that I will see her grow for ever
wow you surprise me with the information but I really like to know new stuff every time and can’t wait to rehouse her when the Amazon order arrives
