My B. smithi female is 6 years old and about 3.5 inches, and she only just molted 3 months ago. But she has stopped eating and her bald patch has turned black, so she's apparently molting again! I'm thrilled but it seems like it's happening sort of soon...is it, or does this sound about right for a juvie? I thought they were extremely slow growers. Thanks. :)

No worries. A well fed, warm T will molt more frequently. I have had adults molt twice in one year.

I got a 2" B smithi beginning of June, and it molted the same week. Then molted 2 weeks ago. I thought that was fast considering there slow growers from what I've read. Mine would be around 4" now. Mine too is well fed and kept mid 80's during the day.

Thanks. When I posted about her size I started second guessing myself. But she's growing great, quite fast and can make me take a step back.

They are gorgeous. I need to get more Brachypelma's. I got an albiceps sling but am expecting it to be exhaustingly slow growing.
