I was wondering what do those of you that use aquariums use for lids? I've heard the screens tops are pretty bad about catching on ts feet, i've seen some on YouTube that build acrylic covers for them is this the best bet or are there better alternatives?

I have to admit I still use a few large mesh screen tops, for a few dry species that don't climb often, or at all. They really aren't great, your spider could definitely get a leg caught..I've been meaning to cut some thin acrylic, drill holes and glue it to the bottom of those lids, I just haven't gotten to it. I also have a few plastic aquarium tops, with mesh screen in the middle ( you can buy them at Walmart for seven bucks). I'm going to put facing on them as well. I'm actually wanting to move away from glass aquariums, I just like seeing my spiders..

Yeah being able to view them was my main thought as well when the time comes I may just spring for some of those custom acrylic cages at least for my more displayable Ts

That's gonna cost you..but I hear they're worth it. I have too many display spiders to go that route. I'm working on a fix for that problem though..

I use various forms of galvenized screen tops on all my tanks each modified to cover portions of the screen to adjust air flow, over 30. In the past 6 years I have had 3 instances of a T getting hung by a tarsal claw. I am in my T several times throughout each day.
So, yes it can happen, usually a rare event, but if you are vigilant it is not a problem.

Agree 100% I just worry about it if I'm gone a few days..fishing is my other hobby. But yeah..its a rare occurrence when you're talking about the large mesh diamond type screens. The fine mesh on exxoterra tops seems designed to remove spider legs though..
