A GENICULATA JUVENILE MOULT ISSUE

Hello guys,

Im a first time T keeper and have a beautiful female A Genic juvy.

She had her first moult in my care recently and I'm a little worried as there is a piece of exo skeleton hanging of the top of her abdomen. Its about the size of a 5p piece.

Will this perhaps come off during her next moult or is this a serious problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

yeah pics if u can. But we see this sometimes. the old exo is wet and dries on the new one. shouldnt be a big issue. at least the past cases ive seen turned out to be little to worry about.

You can gently use a wet q-tip to see if you can dislodge it. It's better that it be on the top than on the bottom for sure. Probably nothing to worry about, though.

Thank you so much for the quick responses! I'm using my phone as I don't have a computer and don't have a clue how to upload a pic on this forum??

This looks remarkably like a pic I've seen recently..im hoping its not a full abdomen piece that's stuck, but I can't tell in the pic. The last time I think I was @Wg25 that had one like that. The danger is if the whole abdomen piece is stuck over the booklungs or butt of the spider. That can cause issues. If its just the top or a small piece its not a problem.

I think you're right, I believe it was @Wg25 that had a similar issue blocking the butt so it couldn't poop. Hopefully this one is just the top stuck like you said.

Hey guys. Yes that's right! Same thing happend with my B.boehmei a few months ago. A few people assured me he wil be okay because it only looked like his carapace part of his molt got caught on top of his abdomen. But I was shocked to find out that a small piece was still covering his spinnerets.
I waited a few days for it to dry and hopefully fall off. But by day 4 he wasn't doing very well.....back legs started looking deformed from him trying to desperately get it off....and he had poop oozing out of the sides of the molt. I found him the next afternoon flopped over on his back... Wiggling around to weak to get back up. He died about 5 hours later.... Was the saddest loss.
But if its only the carapace part she should be fine....but do a proper inspection on her booklungs and spinnerets! And if the are still covered I'd spring in to action asap.

Hey guys, I haven't been able to g et a pic from behind of her but I've tried using wet cotton buds but it doesn't want to budge. I've been keeping an eye on her as much as I can and her back legs aren't going deformed etc and her spinnerets are clear. If I get chance I'll post a pic of her from the back So you can see it better and perhaps advise me on anything I could do to help her?

Hey guys, I've finally managed to get a pic of her behind and I'm rather scared after seeing what's going on back there, any advice at all would be massively appreciated!

that doesn't look good. almost looks like decay on the abdomen, unless that's part of the old molt.
