Been double checking care sheets, (yes I know most of them are lacking lol)
anyway, says a large tank can support several provided its well planted etc as they are considered a communal species.
Why am I having a problem with that BS and envisioning one fat sassy spider at the end of it all...

Has anyone successfully kept them that way as adults?
(no I don't want to try it but I'm curious now)

I've never heard that about Avics..I've seen other species kept communally, but I'd never do it, myself. Too much risk, for very little reward..I'd rather know they were all safe enough in their own enclosure. There's videos all over youtube about it, I've seen several Poecilotheria species, including metallicas, kept that way. It seems a common trend that the people doing it always stop updating about it...makes me rather suspicious..I've also seen mating videos where the people come back and video the male still in the enclosure, living "communally" with the female..."getting along"...and then no more videos..hmmm. I wonder what happened? lol, Some folks don't feel the same way about their pets as us. While I admit to believing a spider can take care of itself to some extent, such as putting rocks in most of my enclosures (because spiders like rocks) and not worrying about a fall, or leaving superworms and roaches for the spider to deal with, it just seems kind of reckless to put two, or several, of these antisocial animals in a box together..unless they're mating, and I'm standing there ready to separate them..

That's how I feel about it, going to give them the benefit of the doubt on some things, (ie: I don't stress if i cant find the mealworm etc, and I think a nice rounded river rock would thrill my G porteri) but I'm not planning on tempting fate by forcing them to live together. Just sounds like BS to me.

But, I was curious and trust you folks so figured this was the place to ask ;)

It was a good question, and many people in the hobby would disagree with my opinion. They usually do :) But that's why we're here, to discuss things like this, and you know you can ask whatever questions you have here, Kymura! :p
