Thanks for the advice, everyone. I resisted the urge to dig it out and this morning saw evidence that indicates it is ready to come out of hiding on its own. I saw that it had re-opened the entrance to its cave. Hopefully I will spot my hermit T soon!

My N Coloratovillosus dug itself a hole and covered itself up over 3 months ago. The only reason I know it is still alive is because I can see it move sometimes through the bottom of its enclosure. At what point do I decide enough is enough and gently dig it up myself, or do I just leave it...

I had an equally good experience with Tim and Mandie from Petbugs. I ordered a M Balfouri sling at ZAR400 (brilliant price) and the little dude arrived the next day safe and sound, perfectly packaged. I will definitely buy from Petbugs again.

I put the cricket tub in the refrigerator (not freezer) for abut 5 minutes prior to feeding my T's. It slows them down enough to make them easier to catch but it does not seem to harm them.

B Smithi was my first T. Mine is such an easy going tarantula. I have had it since May and I have yet so see any kind of threat pose! I would recommend a red knee.
