a simple question, with a simple answer....it's the people!

Big shout out to @Rs50matt and @T-Baby and this is why....

Rs50matt needed to move on some of his spiders that I was very interested in helping him, and add to my collection.

The problem...this was only a few days ago and he needed them gone asap and I was about a 6 hour car journey away from (If I was lucky)

Up steps the beautiful and awesome T-Baby, who basically said....no problem, we will sort it, I can help.

Rs50Matt and T-Baby met today and all the spiders are now in a very good home where they will be loved and cared for until some will make their way "up north" with T-Baby also giving a forever home for some of them too.

So just wanted to mention this as this is what a real community with a shared love for spiders is all about.

Thank you both so much. :):T::T::T:

Swings and roundabouts. @Phil . Appreciate how you and @T-Baby have helped me out.
And we have all benefitted from it.

Got home and my mum was asking questions about them and she did say she felt bad but at the end of the day it's their house I'm in for the next few months and they have allowed me to keep a few so they have been lenient.

While talking about them I started showing a few pictures and she saw one of the versis I had and said " oh wow, that ones pretty". *facepalm* lol

She's happy for now that they cannot get out but I did say I'll get a padlock for the front of my campestratus just to keep her a little more reasured. We'll see if I can change her mind and maybe help her with the fear she has.

it's amazing how many members here started with a phobia if spiders and now have loads. I probably include myself in that TBH. She will have hundreds before you know it....LOL

Why great?

1. Top notch information that specializes primarily on tarantulas as the main focus.

Now if you do have a question about a true spider or scorpion, there's plenty of people who can help you with that too but 90% or more is nothing but tarantulas.

Still, if you have 1 tarantula or 1001 tarantulas, there is absolutely no need whatsoever to go elsewhere online. (& in some cases serious drawbacks if you do)

2. Excellent website culture and attitude.

Everyone is treated with respect. You won't find people flaming you about your tarantulas and then sending you PMs suggesting that you mail them your spiders because you can't handle it.

That's called fraud last time I checked.

3. A great market place where you can buy or sell practically any species of tarantula under the sun.

4. Excellent editing and posting features.

You can update, edit or delete your post no matter how old it is if you become dissatisfied about what you said or just change your mind.

You can also put relevant YouTube videos and other publicly available photos in a post that are related to the topic at hand.

5. An awesome gallery with some of the best photographs of tarantulas anywhere bar none.

6. You have reasonable web admins that don't censor people based on popularity or whatever.

7. Shampain (famous due to the OBT experiment) Don't ask.

8 Arachnoclown

9. Casey K.

10. Panzon88

11. & Dozens of other great members of this forum

There are some great ones on YouTube.

Still, if you want me to do a tricks and tips video aimed at the person who is thinking about it, I could do that.

There are a few things that I've had great luck with that I haven't seen anywhere else which might be of interest.

This topic definitely falls into the "more then one right answer" category.

Once in a while, I repost that one but more as a cautionary tale.

Having said that, there's one bite report of my own on here so I'm not making fun of anyone.

I'm also kicking around the idea of doing a Mammoth sized video on my T stirmi but I want to get her into her new cage and do the build for that one first or else it'll be incomplete.

The stirmi video sounds like a great idea buddy.

I just have to rehouse her first & the cage in putting her into will support a 12" spider.

There are some technical details I have to work out but I haven't really started the build yet.

The only thing is that it'll be really huge (which kinda makes sense due to the size of the tarantula) I'll chain several shorter videos together and link some photos in it, some of which I've never posted yet.

Heck, by the end of it, most people will be whimpering in the corner in a fetal position.

I love this forum, the replies I have received have always been so helpful and informative, The replies are always full of solid facts and excellent tips that have been learnt the hard way over years but they are freely shared to help and encourage, if that wasn’t great enough everyone is always so friendly and welcoming.
It’s also comforting that if, in some emergency, I had to rehome all my little babies I could reach out to this forum and get help or homes and I’d know they were cared for.
Thanks.

I can't believe I am just now reading this (shame on me). .....awwwww, I love you guys. I love this forum and the friendly folks you run into (I am sure I would have tons of fun if i ever met quite a few of you in person). You made an excellent choice in rehoming your tarantulas to @Phil. I don't know @T-Baby but I am sure they will have a good home there, too. A lot of good people here. :) You will rarely come across some scammers but when it happens, @Enn49 is hot on their tail!

My name is in the post itself!! I also got some incredible footage of my P machala who emerged from his molt today in the who's molted section, perhaps the best video footage I've ever shot.

Even better news is that he hasn't hooked out yet so I'm sure there is still some time left. I'm pretty sure he's male because they're sexually dimorphic and the Violet is almost psychodynamic in it's shading.
