Noticed Martin the c.versicolor hadn’t moved for a couple of days, he was upright in his webbing.

Took a closer look and he’d died :(

He has a wound on his abdomen, not sure if it was the cause, or from the couple of mites now on him.

He was my first tarantula I bought from a tiny sling and he was doing so well.

Sorry to hear about Martin. Feel free to tell us more about him. I know you have posted a few things about him in the past, but maybe write about his habits or quirks.

So sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, like for any living things, there are sometimes unexpected deaths we can explain or prevent. In his own way (a way only a tarantula can and that we likely can't understand) I trust Martin was grateful of the time and attention you gave him. It is a sad moment but do not blame yourself.
