I usually have my camera nearby, but a tripod would be a good idea. Tonight I saw the rubiseta for the first time since unpacking , right at the front in a cleared area , perfect for pictures. Unfortunately I had taken the camera with me today and it was still in a bag. Of course I just couldn't find it until I brought the bag over to the table in the light. By then the spider had moved, but still a possible photo op, the flash misfired on the first shot , then I got "battery exhausted" and it turned itself off! Bummer!

Here is our B vagans before and after its first molt since acquiring it. The pictures really can't do the color and size change justice, but it's awesome.

Our GBBs first meal after molting

Sorry for the jerky GIF

Since the sling spends all of it's time high in it's webbing I decided to try feeding it like an avic and it worked. I placed the cricket in the web and it jumped on it.

July 2018 update

All slings have molted in our care since receiving them and appear to be doing well.

Our G rosea was a local pet store purchase and remains the smallest and most timid of the three slings. This sling ia the most active burrower of all 4 Ts we've owned has the deepest burrow, all the way to the bottom of the enclosure which is where it spends most of it's time. Having only moulted once in our care, this sling ejected it's exo from the burrow immediately after moulting. Rarely do we see it topside. A decent eater, the prey items usually wander into it's burrow, it's not an agressive hunter like our B vagans.
I tried so hard to get a pic that the T today that it retreated further into an overhead, cathedral-like chamber almost out of view, a but of it's abdomen is still visible here:

The GBB from Jaimie's Tarantulas has molted twice and has more than trippled in size and used to have a somewhat small abdomen but now is looking very plump. It's behavior is also changing, it used to sit stoicly in it's web link, even when handling it's container, but now it's actively all over and has started webbing the ground. It's becoming a more aggressive eater/hunter, it seems like I could feed it twice a week but I don't. I spray the web once or twice a week since it upsided it's water dish twice already, here it is foraging:

Purchased from LPS at the same time as our rosehair, our B vagans is the largest and most agressive eater of the three but is still somewhat skittish. This sling has molted twice, once at the bottom of it's burrow which I was not able to retrieve and most recently at to top of it's burrow, in about 2 hours time.
This is by far the largest and hardiest of our slings and has also trippled in size since we aquired it. The only time this T has refused prey was in pre-molt, and it molted the very next day. The color and size changes between molts of this T are awesome and it's personality is evolving, almost posing for these pics today. Thinking about rehoming this one soon.

Latest update
All 3 slings are doing well, B. vagans is the largest of all, and definably male having recentlymade it's first sperm web.

The GBB is second largest and while still skittish, it's not shy enough to hide all the time and is often out near it's heat source (side glass away from hide)

G. rosea needs its final home (8" cube tank) and I'm in the process of setting that up now.

All three get an adult cricket or roach about once or twice a week and tropically pounce on it immediately. Status quo so it seems.

Latest pics, sorry not pro quality

I don't think our G. rosea is a G. rosea.

Below is premolt pic from 2 weeks ago...

I think the LPS sold us two B. vagans, one mislabeled "chilean rose hair"

Closing the loop on the B. vagans mentioned in this thread, he died attempting to molt last night as a mature, hooked-out male.

To date, this was the most relaxed T we have owned so far. Never a threat pose, never kicked hairs and he was almost always out on display as an adult, day and night, although he was more active at night.

Farewell, Fang 2

She is pretty black, much darker than brown, which is why I think T. vagans vs. B. sabulosum
Only reason I suggested a sabulosum is I know across the pond they are much more available than here in the UK so thought I'd suggest it-
Maybe its not so bad if its a vagans after the sad loss of your MM but you may find yourself shopping for a G. Rosea now :)

I've set my sights higher, literally. I'm moving more towards arboreals :T:
