I’m going to tell you something that happened to me with my first tarantula and that taught me a hard lesson. I haven’t told this to almost anyone, since I’m terribly embarrassed by it, but I want to know what you think and if you can figure out what really happened— Well, a few weeks ago I received a tarantula sling as a gift. I put it in a plastic terrarium I had and drilled some ventilation holes in it. It was my first tarantula, and I loved it so much. I looked at it every day, fed it a few times a week, and I was obsessed! (Literally, my entire social media feed was filled with tarantula videos, all because of this gift.) One afternoon when I got home, I realized the little spider wasn’t in its enclosure. I looked everywhere inside the enclosure, but it wasn’t there! I panicked—I’d been away for a long time. I thought the worst: that a bigger spider had eaten it… that it had escaped from the house… I don’t know— So I started searching frantically and anxiously through all my furniture and belongings—under the bed, under the desk, in the farthest corners of my room—but it wasn’t there! Then I got to some shoes, and this is where things get interesting: Since I was already so nervous, I was very rough when checking the shoes. I’m not sure exactly what I did to the poor tarantula that was under a shoe (I don’t know if I crushed it, swept it away, or idk), but I saw it underneath, completely motionless, stiff… At that moment, I hated myself. I thought: "How can I be capable of so cruelly taking the life of an animal that could have been so beautiful and lived so long, just because a.negligence?" Then with all the sadness of the world i recorded this video of the poor sling, as you can see, completely inmovile, even what seems to be a death curl, i was totally convinced she was dead and squashed... I left her in her terrarium, right in the center, next to the water bowl; I was planning to bury her the next day. before going to sleep, and I’m not usually someone who cries a lot I hadn’t cried in months—I cried like never before. I never thought I’d cry over a spider, really , but I truly felt guilty, partly because it was my fault for not closing the lid properly (I guess she escaped that way) and for not being careful when checking my room... Well, the point is that the next day, at dawn, I’d already mentaly prepared myself to see her dead again and go bury her…but when I went to her enclosure… she wasnt there—she wasnt there... I thought the ants had eaten her, or that a mouse had taken her or something I don’t know but she had disappeared. That’s when I started checking under the few leaves I’d left in the terrarium for some reason—she was alive! You have no idea how happy I was in that moment; I recorded this video right then: My heart was racing; I thought she was completely dead since I even saw her in a death curl— So I moved her to a much safer enclosure, gave her more hiding spots, hydrated her, and even today, a week later, she’s drinking, walking, and eating perfectly! This incident really left an impression on me; I see it as life teaching me a lesson to take better care of my animals. I’ll be the best owner from now on—thank you, everyone! ksvdh$ssssssvsvsvvscsvz her name is cotton btw and sorry if i am a crybaby or a sensitive person qwq
