I know theirs a debatr on agression vs defensiveness, have to say this is agression, it seems to actuly want to bit

It jumps 6"-2' verticly fangs adripping while rushing you...... (do all rehousing in the shower thankgod, got her under controle and finaly in the new cage), arr they all this evil?

Maybe it was just highly stressed if you'd just brought it home. I have a Haplopelma sp. Midnight Blue and I would say its a very shy T.

The only spider I've ever seen actually try to advance and bite me with aggression is my G pulchripes. That was for the first 2 years of her life. She doesn't do it anymore. Some spiders are just mean.
I love that! I honestly like a spider with a little attitude. My pulchripes is a timid lump :/
I need someone with a little tude, not sure I want quite as much as this guy has though 0.o

My B. verdezi is a real firecracker! When I posted that to the Canadian Tarantula group on Facebook - other people said that theirs are the same. She is really a bit of a fright, that girl. Races out of her hide, has slapped the tongs, hangs onto her water dish so tightly that I would have pulled her out with it, and takes down her prey like nothing I've ever seen.
Plus, she is just a really pretty girl overall. Not a typical Brachypelma so far. I'm actually hoping that she calms down.

My son's A. chalcodes is like this. I hoped her recent molt would come with an attitude change but it didn't. She maybe worse now lol she's slapping at him when he does water where before she wouldn't react.

Ya, never seen one this agressive, all my other high strung trantulas are just defensive, (althougb my cambridgi will attack the sides whenever you walk by), still quite the spider, just dont look forward to rehousing, i see no simple way

For psychos, I only feel safe doing it in the bathtub with a catch cup. If you can get it to threat pose and hold still, just cup it :)

so what is it about the bathtub? the smooth porcelain makes it harder to climb? You'd think they could climb that just as easy as their glass/acrylic enclosures.

That always puzzled me to as we have spiders that run up the side of the bath.

For whatever reason, they can climb it, just not as fast as glass. Mainly what you have is a more controlled environment. I have the spider contained, and feel secure, even if it decides to run up a wall, it has to go through me and my catch cup if it wants to escape. They're easily controlled in a tight space with three slick walls ;) In my bedroom, or living room, I would not feel in control at all. An escape cannot happen in my house. I have dogs..and I'm willing to bet Australian tarantulas aren't the only ones who can kill a dog. I worry about it all the time.

To do with the tiny claws at the end of the leg but strange how glass does not have same effect? Never thought about until now. Will probably keep me awake now trying to work it out.....lol

Not sure, always gotta have the drain pluged though, imagian they could crawl down it, (and although i know it dont (cant, all the water)work this way, would be paranoid that it would nail me on the but later on while pooping, lol)

Glass has a rough surface, at least to things small enough to notice ;) bathtubs have a porcelain paint finish that makes a smother surface than glass. Some Ts will be able to climb it still, but the majority slide off.

There you can sleep now :p
