Hi everyone! I hope you and your T's are doing fine!

I'm curious to know if you have any nicknames for your T's!
Since I'm finnish, I call my B.Hamorii finnish nicknames, but some of them I can translate:
Hairy Butt
Darling
Hairy leg
Spidey
Sweetheart

I'd love to read yours! :)

It depends on what’s happening...if they take a cricket with gusto it’s “good girl” or “big momma” or something like that. If they’re giving me trouble with cleaning or a rehouse it’s usually curse words lol

Haha, I love how you call your T with kinda cute Finnish words when I call mine with words like juntti, sätkynukke, punkki (especially slings with huge butts) etc. :D

I name my Ts but usually after finding out the gender. My female A. geniculata juvie is Maisa - Mom gave that name to her when she had to stay under the same roof with the spider for one night. I tried to change it into something else, but realized soon that the name got stuck in my head.
Other spiders I have named so far are. There is also a small bunch of unnamed slings.

Females
> N. incei gold - Eos. Titaness and the goddess of the dawn in Greek mythology. A bit of a joke as N. incei are small species.

Males
> P. vittata - Sokahr. One of the keywardens from Diablo3

Unsexed
> C. versicolor - Sreaky. Named it after my dear online friend.
> B. boehmei - Kulo. Species has fire orange legs and "tuli" is a boring word, so yeah.
> S. angustum - Anki. Shortened from "The Angsty Kid" due the sling's nature

before my collection got out if control (as far as naming is concerned that is), as now have 236, I tried to name based on either the scientific name or common names, or if they remind me of something.
for example
A. Geniculata = Genie (F) Gene (M) and "Teeny Genie" (juvenile)
B boeheimi = Bo (all sexes)
B emelia = Emie
B. smithi (hamorii) = Tiga (stripes)
GBB = Sully (same colours as character from Monsters inc)
M balfouri = Skai (play on blue sky due to leg colour)
etc..

The queen on being able to name Ts has to be @Enn49 though, and so as I have tagged her I am hoping she will share with others the wonderful way she names her spiders and she can do that much better than I can BTW. :)

Wiki is my friend when it comes to naming my Ts. I use names that are connected with their country of origin, sometimes a volcano, or river, maybe an area and occasionally an ancient people from that area. I find a lot out about those countries during the process making it fun and educational.:).

My first 2 T's I named as:
A. avicularia - Pinky
A. seemani - Doobie
And my most recent additions:
A. chalcodes - Blondie
B. albopilosum - Curly

Basic, but after I named the 1st two I kinda stuck with the y/ie ending names.

I have a little Phlogius crassipes that I call Young Geoffrey because he was always naughty and jumping out of his cage and running around silly before finally settling down and going meekly back into his cage after being scolded.
If you don't stop this running around and settle down and behave yourself it'll be bed with no cricket for you Young Geoffrey me lad!
