Hey again guys, I have another question regarding my T. stirmi. So he hasn't been eating, his abdomen is huge and shiny and is slowly darkening. I'm pretty sure he's in premoult. However, while checking on him I just noticed that inside his hide, there seems to be a little bit of mould on the wood. There are lots of white spots which could just be poo, but the wood is pretty pale on one side and after pressing at it with tweezers it seems to be quite soft too. I recently introduced springtails into the enclosure, but I can't do anything about the actual hide at this point I don't think, because I don't want to disturb him too much right now.
I'm trying to keep the humidity over 80%, and it's about 25C in his tank right now. The top of the enclosure is mesh and I don't keep it covered, and there's a mesh panel on the side too for cross ventilation. There doesn't seem to be any mould anywhere else in the tank. Substrate is coco fibre and vermiculite. I keep the water dish full, but I may have gone a bit overboard with the misting recently because I'm paranoid he won't be able to moult properly if things are too dry for him Can mould potentially affect a moult? Or am I okay to leave things as they are until he's moulted and had a week or so to recover, and be shopping around for a better hide in the meantime? I really don't want to go pulling things around in there right now, but I also don't want to let the possible mould get out of hand.
