Hi can anyone help me please I've been sent a selenocosmia obscura as a free sling with an order and I can't find out much about it. I've tried messaging the sender twice but no reply. Does anyone know the country of origin and size as adult please, I've set it up with about 3 inches of substrate. It is doing well had it a couple of months it's made a burrow and webbed up the top of the whole enclosure, I just hate not knowing nothing about it.

Welcome Graham, that's a pretty cool freebie to get! What did it come along with?

A modicum of research shows that the species hails from Borneo. A search of other species from that region of the world, Malaysia and Singapore, should yield some care information. Why don't you do a little research and post your results for us to discuss with you as a group?

Also, why don't you please take a moment to post a little bit about yourself in the introduction section

Nice collection

Did you research the care needs of other Ts from Borneo, like Birupes simoroxigorum, or other Asian species? Deeper, moist substrate, etc

No but I will have a look now, to be honest I've been avoiding aisan species, I've got 6 pokies and lots of African species but there mostly out alot wasn't really interested in pet holes. I rehoused it into this yesterday, it has a single layer of clayballs on the bottom. This is how I keep my arboreal slings but I cut the box lower for less substrate.

I have a few Asian arboreals and find them very curious and elusive. I use the clay balls as a.drainage layer for bioactive enclosures; I suspect asian/obligate burrowers will have a field day extracting them lol so I don't use them with those guys.

Ha OK I know they have to be a bit more moist didn't want to risk over watering. It has got a layer of that fabric weed control over them but I'll get them out before it webbs up and I have to destroy it, I do have an lsd earth tiger I better sort to but that has dug down to the fabric and ran across the top of it I would say that's only 2cm leg span but bigger than the obscura.
